    I was involved in an event in Viridale a few mins ago and in it two of the party were eaten by demons, which wasn't very nice as you can imagine.

    Now being the awesome legion guy that Tyrone is he cast raise dead on one of the bodies.

    Raise dead costs 5k gold and 10 vitality?

    I would wonder if perhaps it might be time to bring the raise dead spell down in cost to match it more in favour with the vitality system. The reality is that in truth raise dead spells are pretty much null and void right now, why waste the cash on bringing someone back in the field when they can just wait a few mins and sacrifice a little vitality to respawn in a church where we can rp that they were gravely wounded or something. Well I kind of like being the hero that brings the dead back to fight again, it's good for rp when you just survive a massive brawl and want to aid the fallen, but for the current cost it's just not worth developing those aspects of my characters personality because it's horrifically expensive, I don't mind burning up vitality to cast the raise spells, burning a bit of my own life force to aid in bringing back the fallen is cool to me, but 5k is.. well it's 5k.

    My opinions may not follow with the general consensus in which case, that's cool, but all the same I thought it was worth throwing out there.

      I disagree to some extent. It is vastly cheaper to carry someone to a temple (800g) than it is to raise them in the field. However, there is convenience to the field rez, e.g. "our tank died and without him we can't fight back out to get him rezzed, so we're all going to die". And to some extent I agree with the vit cost to the caster, though 10% seems a little high.

      What I think would make the spell less evil was a warning before casting for people who may not know the vastly increased cost on Sundren. As an example, due to my Mystic Theurge being a crappy healer, a rogue in our group died to the Viridale orcs. The cleric, being all noble and whatnot, immediately raised him (kudos on having the spell prepped, it shows real optimism for our group's abilities). He was then dumbstruck by the cost so I reimbursed him the coin (my fail heals were the catalyst for the event) but could do nothing for his vit. If the spell could instead pop up a dialogue of "Do you really wish to raise X" it will incur the cost of A and B and upset Kelemvor something fierce!" I think it might blindside fewer casters.

      All that being said, it might be cumbersome or impossible to do, and I'm guessing clerics who fall for it are once bitten, twice shy. And it would be a hell of a way to permakill a noble cleric, literally give your life for another character.
