  • Druids/MoMF

I feel as though I entered with the desire to play a Druid at a bad time. In that there are none. Or a very few at most. Bad things happened to the old Circle and all. I'd like to consider changing that eventually if possible, but since my druid is going to be a timid Spy Druid and not Archdruid material, that's not a job I can do myself. What's the current level of Druid-interest out there? Is this a lost cause before it even starts or could we perhaps have something?

On a slightly related note, how is Master of Many Forms as a class, mechanically? I already understand the RP value of being able to change your face whenever, or spy about as a rat, but in terms of combat is where I'm concerned. With a class that gives this much potential RP power I wouldn't expect mechanical power to be ludicrously high, but you're already investing three feats to get the class, adn giving up animal companion and spell progressions. Are the 'combat' forms worth it? Like the giants, beholder, ect, ect. Or by taking this class and pursuing it to 10 am I putting myself in the 'gimped' folder?

I've often toyed with the idea of making a Druid, but it annoys me that Druids don't have any special powers, increased caster level or anything when they are in the woods. They would get their asses kicked by the Exigo/Vampires/Orcs/everything....

Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

Druids are quite powerful pure, but they only shine in high epics or Kaedrin content. Where they can turn into giant harbingers of destruction. Prior to that you're just a giant slightly impressive elemental force of destruction with great durability buffs and not much else.

The strength of the class, pure, is Wild Shape + Natural Spell + Buffs galore. You lose those buffs with MoMF in exchange for unequaled RP diversity opportunities, but that makes me wonder if its worth it.

The MoMF class is not a greatly powerful class, but it can be decently so. Maybe a couple of the players who have used the class can talk to you IG about its 'quirks'.

I'm planning a druid these days as well. From what i understand from the suggestion forum, wildshape will cancel when you transition. Dunno if a fix is underway. That kinda bums a momf out.

I'm not sure if natural spell is allowed or if its for momf only

As I understand it, the nature faction and some other new content will arrive in the near future - but it helps if there's any druids/rangers active too!! You can help shape it, or go hardcore factionless like some of us :-) Im sure a dm can chime in on this.

its my impression that a druid can do quite nicely on sundren. Would anyone know if brambles can be persisted?

Heh. Cancelling polymorph is the fix farmboy, your game would crash otherwise.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Some people are lucky to get away with no crash about 50% of the time. Others suffer it every time. Beholders have about the same rate ( do it away from party members or you might crash them too . ).

If you go MoMF I suggest you get you're stone skin first then your set pretty quickly and effectively. Or you can just make friends an let them do all the work
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
              Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

MoMF is a class oozing with RP opportunities, let down by being as flexible and worthwhile in a fight as a wet paper bag. Out of all of it's forms you'll find around 3-4 have any actual use, you'll forget the rest even exist.

The polymorph/transition issue doesn't help matters, you'll chew through your 9 wildshapes rapidly just moving through a dungeon, to make matters worse you may find that you get various buffs disappearing when you shift shape and transition.

It does have unrivalled RP value though, the character I've enjoyed playing the most was my MoMF Sammal Sulfur as the class just oozes fun and entertainment.

(Once you get the dragon shapes you'll want to murder quite a few people though. I lost count of the number of people who cooed and tried to cuddle his giant red dragon form. seriously.)
                Eira Skald - Icy bitch.
Karsten Mannerheim - Idealist and murderer.
Vincent Hopkins - Witch Hunter and man of faith.
Aedan Gilter - Dreamer of broken dreams.
Henry L. Jones - Oh god, I can see forever.

That is true - But a true roleplayer would rather crash his client than let his foes know of his true form

I take it that it means no-go for fixes. It could be fixed with unlimited wildshape uses y'ken...

What about brambles and persistent spell? I'll be damned if I can find the old post about persistable spells with the search function

You could actually say its a great time to roll up a nature based character because we are still working out the new faction with the new areas. If you get involved now, stay active, and stay dedicated then you may see some interesting times. And you definitely have clear goals of restoring balance and what not, so figuring out what to do with your pc should be easy enough. You'll just have to exercise some patience as the developer todo list is long.

I know that the Ulsteris family, namely Quintin Ulsteris, has been in contact with the wardens about giving them at least a temporary home within his family's domain while they recover, in exchange for them helping to repair some of the damage from when the city rose that happened to the farmlands.

Also, Quintin Ulsteris=Me. I like the nature types, played one for a few years. Would love to see more, but maybe not so...rampantly eco-terrorist like, that got silly after a while, but that's just my opinion.

Quintin Ulsteris: Nice-guy Legion engineer, deceased son of House Ulsteris.

Clandriel Cain: AKA "Fire-eyes" AKA "Demon hunter" AKA "OH MY GOD, WHY IS HE STILL STABBING ME!!??"

MoMF does not have any spell progression or animal companion progression. Entirely wildshapes.

It's a class you take for the RP and entirely just for that. As earlier people said, seems to have the combat capabilities and diversity of a wet paper bag.
