Heh, I have almost 40k now. But I don't spend money on anything except some items. No scrolls kits or potions for me. Which is why I am looking for people selling good greatswords.

oh and gold necklaces go for 400 gold in the gate. Sweet.

I've sold many items for lots of coin. I also don't buy anything except scrolls of prot from alignment to have for the arquor caves. I don't have 90k, but I have a lot...as in, a LOT...

A ring that can sell to a merchant for 300 can be sold to the right player for 5000 or more. Do that repeatedly with some good items, and all of a sudden you can get to have lots of stags.

I dunno, the coin adds up quite easily for my main. I will, however, avoid going to areas where exp is nil from now on, unless passing through or I need scrolls or something.

I do like the idea of limiting the drops by tying it to the exp awarded. No exp = no loot. That would really solve the issue, although it's extra work to implement I'm sure.

Akitsuki... your character had so much shit in your inventory, you had trouble trying to figure out if you were missing something or not when transfering items from your drow to your new character.

You may have 9k but you had about 30 friggin scrolls in your inventory along with a bunch of other things.

Of course you stopped picking up loot! It's because you have no room left for loot! PACK RAT!

I understand the need to have only low magic items available in the shops, but something has to be added to the economy to suck all this money out of it!

It's tricky to add a money sink. Much like XP and grinding, the problem isn't the current system, it's people who will abuse it. If you start to add devices to control the abusers, you end up hurting the good people who play nice.

So the solution that seems obvious is dealing with the ones unbalancing the economy/XP rates, but that requires policing and few DMs like to go actively policing.

Maybe instead of a money sink, something similar to the XP curve system? A daily amount of gold a character could "realistically" gather, based on their level. It might sound artificial at first, but not so much when you consider monsters wouldn't have an infinite amount of magical devices just waiting to be looted by everyone. Much like the XP system, DMs could still reward you gold beyond your "daily allowance".

For the already estabilished nouveau riche some money sinks could be applied to put them down to an "acceptable level", like donations to the church of the deity they follow, blitz-taxes over highly successful adventurers or the requirement of some kind of license or meaningless nobility title to be bought, etc.
