  • Frost Giants

You can only get the Frost giant quest at 15th level. They are very tough for a 15th level character, but only give 4-12xp each! Most are 4xp, the berserkers are 12xp. Not sure about Aurelianus as I couldn't even put a scratch on him.

In contrast, I get 48xp for lizards on Ixis or Bloodmaim, both of which seem (to me anyway) slightly easier than the giants. I'm a pure Wizard, so maybe its easier for other classes, just seems a little out of whack.

Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

They were meant to be "epic" way back when Thaelis... well before the bloodmaim appeared in our lives; it's meant to be scary that way. Their CR could be adjusted a touch. I don't think they're that much harder than the lizards... there is just A LOT more of them.
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
    Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

I think it was kept in because one quest is better than no quests.
        Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

        [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

Yeah, they aren't really any harder. Their AB is higher and they do more damage, but they have worse Reflex save and are super weak against fire. On balance they are probably equal to the lizards...so they should perhaps give equal xp?

I don't think cutting the quest out is necessary, until there is something to replace it at least...

It's really that one spellcaster that makes the fight tricky. Bonus points if you're a pure melee, because I found the battle quite more fun than Ixis and their delicious lizard men pinatas due to the actual risk of severe damage/horrible death.

I should go buy a Necklace of Fireballs for future frosties, then.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

IMO the Frost Giants were always more a right of passage and less a leveling area. For this reason I have never noticed the XP values.
              Cheers!
