  • Unable to connect

I'm unable to connect to the server in-game in any way. I've tried direct connect with both a numeric IP and with "nwn.sundren.org:5125", with and without a channel number. I've also tried the favourites list in Gamespy.

I consistently get the "unknown connection error" message immediately, There is no delay as if the game were trying to find the server. I get the same thing on my other server, Dalelands, as well.

This has been happening for well over half a day now.

    Anyone have any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Dave

Not sure what to say, there shouldn't be any connection problems from what I can see. If more people report this let me know.

        Firewall?
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

I don't see how. I connected fine on Saturday, tried Sunday and today with the described results. I changed nothing.

Since my last post, I tried connecting to some other servers with a clean Neverwinter Nights 2 directory and using the IPs from Scry. Same results.

Single-player modules seem to run OK, for what it's worth.

Sounds very much like something local to you.

            You have any software updates?
Double check windows firewall and any firewall kind of stuff on your hub/router.

Have the same problem. I get this error, then the game crashes to desktop. But it seems to be a general problem, not Sundren related.

Rechecked the firewall and it allows NWN2 connections. Also turned the firewall off (it's back on now) with the same result. I don't remember any software updates between the time it worked and when the trouble started. I have no automatic updates, they're all supposed to ask permission.

                    Dave,

I just returned from a long weekend and logged into game without any issues. Last time I was in game you and I were on at the same time. My computer has been physically turned off, and when I powered it up there weren't any updates at all. So I have to agree with the others... sounds local.

Because I have no technical abilities, I can only recommending using my fix-all approach to problem solving. I do a hard reboot.

                    Cheers!

Yay!!! The hard reboot fixed things, whatever the problem was. It only seemed to affect NWN2, though. Nothing else had any connection problems.

Should have thought of a hard reboot myself, though . Thanks, Manu.
