(((OOC Thread))) For All Members and Friends of the Corps de Grace

Finally, I think whatever happens to the group it should happen from a PC driven perspective. Tery/Dave has done a great job of breathing fresh life into the CdG despite some fairly horrendous goings on. I'd rather see him and other characters found something new and good, rather than us bring in an outside bunch of NPCs to reshape things.

As the person that did the background lore for the Corps (and also from the player of the toon that it's named after ), I have a very warm place in my heart for the Corps.

I would like them found a new force in the Port. I don't see any reason why they can't aspire to (eventually) take back Sestra, but protecting the refugees and helping them establish in a new town is something that I think is (or was) very much at the Core of the Corps. Although it had one LG directuer at one point, she was very much into trying to use the tools available to her to acquire information and stop the spread of various naughty factions (and tried once vehemently to end the civil war).

The question is, with their current resources gone, is there enough in the Port to re-establish themselves without "outside" interference (Blackwood is currently there - is the port big enough for a goody group that doesn't want to be mercenaries but wants to help?

By outside forces I really meant NPC/DM groups coming in from outside the faction and reshaping it. Having the PCs decide the fate of their faction and go looking for help via other PCs in factions is a great idea. For example:

Bad outside influence:
Hi! We're the Harpers! We've got a load of cash and are totally going to give you a makeover!

Good outside assistance:
Tery "We've decided to relocate to Avanthyr for the time being in order to assist the downtrodden and poor of Sundren, as well as to strike blows against them thar evil buggers over in Sestra. We'll rename ourselves the Company of the Gracious Hands, out of respect to the Grace and the fact that we're now a freelance company. Obviously we're a bit skint so we've had to go looking for help.

Madam Meriadoc has been convinced to rent us one of her warehouses for us to opperate out of, she's been kind enough to hold the rent for a few months while we get on our feet.

After a lot of discussion with Exicorp and Blackwood we've arranged a start up discount in return for our assistance in dealing with some problems in their mines. Blackwood may also throw a few jobs our way, mostly the ones they consider not worth their time. Small scraps I know, but from tiny acorns grow mighty oaks.

The Legion, alas, have said they will not provide more aid to our group, stating that they've already supplied the House Meriadoc with finances to arm the port. I have heard however that they are petitioning for facilities within the port so we may yet be able to win favour by subletting our warehouse.

We've also had a mildly suspicious hooded stranger offer a donation, he claims not to be a member of the black hand and asks only for rumours and news to be fed his way in return for the cash money."

To those who have a toon or former toon in the CdG, and would like to continue/bring back same - please post a quick comment.

I'm writing up a synthesis of the ideas put forward so far and will incorporate any new ones as they appear. Hopefully it will develop into a plan (always subject to change as the story develops, of course) for a future direction.

Once that's done, I'll circulate to members, the DM team and other IC-interested parties for additional comments.
