  • For DMs ... about Sending spell

I would like to ask how would it work for somebody receiving "Sending spell" from a mad person, who is convinced that she's actually somebody else. Would the recipient think, that the message comes from the mind of the "ill" person or would she see the person, as she sees herself? I make an example. Sile is convinced, that she's Emilianna Blackwell, so if she was about to mentally contact her mum, would her mum think, she is being contacted by Emilianna, because she would see Sile's mental image of Emilianna?

Sile ... alias mentally Emilianna "... please mum, send me some pullover, it's cold here. Emilianna."
Mum ... alias mentally Squirrel Queen "Of course darling, on its way!"

Sile - impoverished free merchant, looking for her own happiness
Lindi - wandering bard and actress

    Does Sile know Emiliana's mom?

It was just an example, but let's say yes. And you are right two answers required here.

      If yes .....
      If no ......

You must be familiar with the target to send the message.

The subject recognizes you if it knows you. - http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/sending.htm
You also can't fool the recipient about who the originator is. If they don't know you, I think they'd just receive the message anonymously.

There's another version on pg. 95 of the Book of Vile Darkness called 'False Sending' that allows you pretend to be someone else.

Actually thinking you're someone else, wouldn't change the above in my opinion -- but I wouldn't kick up a fuss if another DM allowed it.

The False Sending sounds nice and thank you for your answer.
