Is there some new ruling on the mines in Sestra that prohibits players from taking there characters in them?

I have heard that people were told to leave as it isnt supposed to exist any longer. I remember when Arbiters stand was over run and Mossdale was supposed to be unapproachable, we could still go there but RP it as a skirmish.

Lastly are there still rules limiting what level characters can go into certain areas? For instance can a 20th level mage go into the Veridale if he wants? I remember something about one of the updates containing something to make spawns that will spawn according to the level you are. therefore making a party of higher level PC's going into the Veridale have spawns that are a challenge. Keeping the Encounter Level on par. Is this right or am I way out to lunch here?

By who? We've got plans to relocate/change parts of it, but I don't see any problem with leveling in there until we do.

This is in development, not on the server.

I've been seeing characters farming dungeons where they're too high level to get gold or XP from the kills

Sestra isn't off limits, but keep in mind it is owned by Banites. If you're in a faction that's warring with the Black Hand use common sense.

As Gamling said, pretty much the only thing to pay mind to is the fact that Sestra is under Banite control.

As for the mines themselves, there has been rp going on with people trying to relocate the lizards. And while they haven't vacated the mines just yet, they likely will in the future.

I was there with Choc radio the other night. It's actually a fun place to kill stuff. I hope it stays the same whereever it ends up

It probably says bad things about me, but while relaxing in some of the local geothermal pools I got to thinking that the same kind of setup would be perfect for the lizards in sundren. They wouldn't really be bothered by the cold when they've steamy caves and hot water/ rocks to lounge on (i know know.I wasn't! 1 degree outside temp with a frosty terrain outside the active areas, a balmy 38ish in the water)

It'd make for a striking exterior map as well.

I've never understood this concept... you can get rich by killing enemies that grant no gold?!

I occasionally go to Viridale and kill stuff to gather craft components. Judging by what Cornuto has said I will probably get in trouble for it, but its the ONLY place i have found that drops even the simplest of gems, obsidian, fire opal etc so I really have little choice.

The most money I could possibly make is like 1000gp worth of treasure from a half hour of doing that (I avoid touching the containers as I'm worried they won't respawn if some lowbies come along later). In that same time I could have made 10,000+ in an area suited to my level.

Am I missing something about this supposed get-rich-quick scheme or is it just a DM/admin misconception?

Ah, I had another paragraph there. I thought I deleted it prior to posting, but I guess I left that bit in. Its something I meant to bring up in the DEV forum first before addressing on the general boards.

I think I'd like the loot scripts to stop firing if you don't get gold/xp from kills. We're trying to implement dungeons that drop more magic items but for example people can just run their level 20 mega builds through a level 15 dungeon and scoop up the loot for resale. I know in the past magic items have been a rare find, but we've got a new loot system in place (just not a lot of loot tables set up to use it as of yet.) The thread Cat started about item suggestions is one example of us making a loot table (more specifically for the viridale) with customized magical items that will have a chance of dropping from all spawns (with the chance increasing from white level enemies to red).

I'm sure there's other concerns that counterbalance flipping the switch off, so I wanted to hear other DM/DEV opinions on it.
