I'll be honest with people, I've had players who were just RPers, had been around for ages but were waaay low in level. GBX has done this too, we just 'bump' them up a level. Some PCs have reached lvl 21 this way.
If this hasn't happened to you, don't feel bad! It doesn't mean you're not a good RPer, it just means we might not have noticed you yet. There are many chars who would still be pretty low level, despite their accomplishments if we didn't do this.
And no, it isn't favourites, I've had PCs I didn't know much, but they were great RPers and I know they had been around for ages, so we just do it.
This is far better system in my eyes than grinding and implementing level caps, limited XP gains etc.... because even the people who don't have a ton of time to play can get rewarded properly.
If you feel you fall into this category and haven't ever been bumped in level, this doesn't mean it won't happen -- we just do it sparingly.
