  • Factions of the Second Sundering

Since we're rapidly approaching a launch (hooray!), is there a revised list of what factions will be available in the Second Sundering update?

I'm guessing the Wardens are gone, due to recent events.

Yeah, this would be nice to clear this up.

I was in the middle of switching faction from Hands to the Wardens when the glade was destroyed, and now everyone is saying there is no more Druid/Ranger faction anymore.

Hands to the Wardens? I sniggered.

After a post in a different section I was thinking about this today, I'll try and put together a post giving a broad overview (mostly IC, with OOC touches) to give people a more up to date picture of the changes, damage and general horror that should be going in in game, but due to logistical constraints isn't always reflected either on the forum or in engine.

But to clarify on this bit quickly - The Grove should be considered hostile. Alien intelligences compromised it and resulted in some severe trouble, the Rangers twee village should also be considered compromised presumed destroyed, all occupants missing presumed transformed into veg-o-zombs.

          Alive and kicking.

As I said, I'll put together a post or series of posts. It may take a couple of days though, so you'll need to be patient.

Due to the nature of the supposed shaky alliance between veritas and legion, it's likely the veritas will be absorbed into the Sundren general faction that houses legion/redblades/mundus. That's my guess, anyways.

Also, how did you get into the hands if you have druid in you? Nevermind, it would probably hurt me to know :P
Tigen Amastacia: Died in events so you didn't have to.

Quintin Ulsteris: Nice-guy Legion engineer, deceased son of House Ulsteris.

Clandriel Cain: AKA "Fire-eyes" AKA "Demon hunter" AKA "OH MY GOD, WHY IS HE STILL STABBING ME!!??"

From what I got from Kasso/Poltergeist:
                • The Wardens of the Vale as a broader faction are nonfunctional.
                • The Fury druids/Nature's Wrath part of the Wardens have been mostly decimated.
                • The Aurilites might get swooped up by the Banites.
                • The Umberlites still have their church in Port Avanthyr... and they probably never cared much for those tree huggers anyways.

The Druid Glade turned out into some rotten abandoned cesspool of decay. It's not as bad as it was back when the Keeper was corrupting it while under Talona's sway and the wilting Viridale did get better once the Keeper was taken down... but the Glade itself was considered a lost cause. The Tree fort above was willingly abandoned and no attempt to take it down was done by the rangers leaving it - it was deemed 'not worth it' since few would be able to salvage anything out of the decay there.

The Nature's Vanguard subfaction along with a handful of druid members - likely with a lean over the positively proactive individuals. They're lead by the Ranger Lord Iauron, and Chessa seems to be the ranking druid of Chauntea speaking for what's left of the circle.

Maia has in her possession an acorn which was implied to be blessed by Silvanus and capable of being planted to grow a new oak which would serve as a focal point to create a new sanctuary in time. Until then, it seems like the Nature's Vanguard is settled near the Gate of the Sunderer. Well, if Maia wishes to use it for that purpose (it looks like a yummy snack that might further her fey powers over the Viridale if eaten! )

It's been implied by the staffers I've spoken to that the Vanguard might be numerous enough to be capable of 'rebuilding', but not potent enough to put up much of a fight. When the decision was left to Maia, she decided to protect Vanguard numbers and only have them contribute scouting roles during the Bloodmaim conflict. No indication given, though, as to if this would be enough for them to remain a scripted faction in some form.

I was also told by staffers that the reputation points I worked to gain with the Wardens would not be 'put to waste' due to the faction's twilight. How that's going to turn out is up in the air, though.

I will say this, the only druidic overtones in the future with Sundren I'd like to see based in Icewind Dale.

I think it makes a lot more sense there and a grove hidden away in an icy paradise sounds a lot more intriguing than another generic forest. Not to mention there are lots of barbarians which typically worship certain animals as deities.

This is all just talk though, the future is wide open.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Technically, they already have an entire windswept icy plateu, right? and there is that cave in the cold-climb with . . . lesee. . . nothing in it and a cave exit to nowhere. I see a potential buildpoint, if it hasn't been removed.

Hey gang. I've been keeping track of the Second Sundering updates on the forums for the most part, so I apologize if I've just overlooked it, but was an updated list of factions put out anywhere yet?

I may be on hiatus due to Guild Wars 2, but once the honeymoon is over I'll certainly be back on Sundren for some quality RP and to check out all the awesome new content! Just want to know what factions are now available to work towards.

There are no new factions (that I know of), but some have more or less disappeared. I'd suggest you take a look at the public knowledge thread and draw your own conclusions from that:
                        Account Name: LuvHandles
Maneae StrongArm - Devilish Warrior Woman (Active: Finding her place after time in reflection)
Minael Cel'Anon - Elven Smith, Knight and Wizard (Inactive: seeking clues to lost elven artifacts)
Aria Duvaine - Wouldn't you like to know . . . (Inactive: Whereabouts unknown)
Ra'd Malik - Mulhorandi Warrior (Inactive: Off on a mission for the BH)
Khyron Brinsbane - Fury of Auril (Inactive: Working with Cwn Annwn)
Chazre Kenner - All around good guy with a penchant for revelry and chasing the ladies. (Deleted: Team Good, returned to Cormyr)

We have no plans on making any new factions at this time.

And if there are any questions on the remaining factions, don't be scared to ask.

If you wish to roleplay as a bodyguard or be a general mercenary, then go Blackwood.

If you wish to be a merchant, then you would go Exigo.
