  • Future of Factions?

Alright bear with me, this quote was in another thread but:

    a) I do not wish to derail the thread entirely with speculative prodding and questions.
    b) It's a thread about elves.

    Anyway:

So what's the deal with this little tid bit wedged in that post anyway?

What little we know of the second Sundering update involves some things like new equipment in faction stores (please god, put some useful gear for low levels in the blackwood store) and player storage in the faction areas.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suppose that what's meant (based on the quote and what we've been told of the future) is that the emphasis is going to be taken off of factions. Still I'd like to know more (and I'm sure others probably do too) about the future of factions.

From what I've garnered from Staff posts on similar topics before, the focus is not being taken off factions, but the total number of factions is being reduced so that the struggle between the more prominent groups (Legion, Arbiters, Black Hand, Eboncoin, Exigo, and Thayans, unless I've misread) is a greater focus than small skirmishes between groups with very few people invested in them. Having fewer factions makes DM-time-allocation and overall politics a LOT simpler, and will hopefully provide a greater opportunity and quality of RP that causes change and improves the storyline in Sundren.

        That's a pretty accurate summary.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
