Anyone had any trouble with the new NVIDIA driver version 301.42?

No problems here, I update my drivers religiously (which is a good idea if you have a newer card especially)... very rarely do I run into problems.
I highly recommend checking out the guru3d.com forums, they are always posting when the official drivers are released or betas are leaked and people post their findings (performance increases etc).The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Never rely on windows update for manufacturer drivers, they are almost always months out of date compared to the OEM.
