  • Player Versus Player Concern

I really don't have an issue with the rules and requirements of what needs to be met so that a player versus player can be valid, but one thing that does bother me is when people start bending the rules and finding player versus player as an addiction to the point where there is no reason for them to instant kill people on sight. I've been noticing many people experiencing this recurrence in the server lately.

There have even been cases where the players don't even role play before they attempt an assault on anyone. How realistic is that? What was the purpose of their attack in the first place? I also noticed that the victims of these attacks were new players with low characters. After these incidents they quit the server and left.

Player versus player characters really need to tone this down. That kind of behaviour hurts the playerbase in the long run. Make sure to at least have a legitimate reason to mow over player's characters. Unfortunately, there are a lot of sensitive players out there. Especially the newbies who try out our server. Don't give Sundren a bad name, please.

Probably very. There doesn't have to be role play before a CvC for there to be a role play reason for the CvC, and I can't imagine everyone monologues before knifing someone else.

Sundren's a CvC server, so the people who play here ought to recognize that and expect it to some degree. However, if the CvC seems senseless or like intentional bullying of the player rather than the character, get the staff involved.

As with all things, it's situationaly dependant - but I'm going to agree with r3 here and say that more often than not the roleplay reason is there without the actual roleplay. If the intent is to kill, most characters won't feel the need to monologue unless they want to tell their would be victim that 'yes, I did in fact tie Susie Q to the traintracks and the train arrives at noon'.

It is, however, seen in good light to emote intent before a-killin'.

There's two sides to this, one if the people being victimized make zero effort to report it and just chalk it up to "this is how the server is" then there's really very little we can do about it.

They are just as much to blame because they've done nothing to stop it from happening to the next person.

The DM team and admin team in particular have the resources to audit almost anything you can imagine from a scenario, to the point where it's pretty hard to lie about what happened... but all of that is useless if the player in question isn't going through the right channels.

There's really no debate or interpretation of our rules, and people should not be surprised to see consequences for breaking them.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
