Newbie Guides?

Hi,

I am new to Sundren, at least to this one. I played a little a few months ago but was gone for 120 days or so.

I am back and starting a new character, I have been looking around (did buy a shield and sword) and am ready to start, but don't have a clue where to go. I was on pretty late (2130 CST) and there were a few folks on, but I didn't have a clue how to get to where the tool was telling me they were at.

Is there a starting sign that I missed or a place in the city that everyone hangs out (they used to hang out by the city gate)?

Is there a tool that lets me announce that I am looking for a group, wanting to trade, etc?

Are there some starting quests that can get me on my way?

I have typically played a healing Cleric, but am getting bored with the same old RP, is there a breakdown or statistics on classes? Was just wondering as I thought I would play something different for a change.

Is there a map that I can use to get an idea of where I can wander and where I need to wait to wander?

Sorry for all the newbie questions...If one doesn't exist, I would be happy to start compiling one to post for new players.

Head out to Shaharan Hills, that is the easiest hunting grounds..but be prepared to die as they aren't walkovers. Partying up is recommended.

Else I say ask around or go into tourist mode. Sundren City has the most of shops.

1) Use the OOC device to look for people, or just hang out at the Shaharan Hills or Virindale Forest. You find the OOC device in your backpack, given when you start the character IIRC.

2) Sundren use a world map, so just choose the place you want to go

Shaharan Hills are pretty good but tough when your just starting out. I would highly recommend finding a group before going too far in there. The Bandits at Sundren Gate are easier if your on your own but you still need to be carefull as some spots spawn quite a few.

As for server population we could always use more halfings, since they of course the bests race ...*looks innocent and darts off*

A question, to which I hope someone will indulge me by answering...

Is there an easier way for my PC to speak other than the "choose a language" conversation box activated near the screen top?

This is my first NWN2 MP foray, and the interface is so different. I'm quite lost without the old dialogue box. Hopefully, this will be incorporated as a topic in a Newbie Guide.

Also, apologies to the couple of PCs I bumped into but could not converse with.

I also had a hard time figuring out how to speak my first time playing NWN2 online. At the bottom of your screen, you should see a dialogue box. Hit the return key and you will be able to type in that dialogue box.

What is "tourist mode"? Is that a real in-game mode, or do you mean just wandering around sight-seeing?

The whole chat thing confused the heck out of me when I first started playing NWN2.

Here is my addition to the 'newbie guide.'

Sending Tells
If you want to send a tell, click on the 'eye' icon to bring up its menu. Press 'player chat.' A new window opens in your interface with all active players on the server. Click on the name you wish to send a tell/whisper to, then type your message.

I know this has been mentioned in another post but it deserves another mention, especially if you've been trying to send tells using /t *insert name here*, since some character names would be insanely hard to spell correctly .
