Greetings All,
I was wondering if there were any guidelines to player-run events. I ask this because I occasionally get this idea in my head to pay random adventuerers at the campfire to go hunting for nonexistant plants. Obviously, there is no starflowers or Sunderian River Thistles in the game, but as a holistic gameworld there needs to be some variety somewhere, be it plants, woodland animals, river-rocks, what-have-you. In my experience, RP tends to be more rewarding when pushed forward by a character, rather than the DM, but it often limits options. As a player, I cannot speak for the environment, as that is the designation for the DM, but neither is it the DM's job to run someone else's event. Vala, Coreska, and Kitsunetsume made search rolls in a number of places, but, due to lack of responce from the enviromnent, in the end I just decided that a partiular location held a particular type of plant. In the most recent expedition, we were lucky enough to have DM_Poltergheist overhead and watching, but that inspired a rather interesting question: Who decides what rolls succeed or fail in a player-run event?
If anyone has a responce to this question, or other guidelines you think might be helpful, please comment.
Cheers,
Kit
