  • Whurest Ruins

So, I just got done with the ruins. Was kind of upset with the loot drops. Was it bad luck or do they just have bad loot tables? Also is there a plan to up the loot drop for the future?

Its a high-volume spawn dungeon so you make a considerable amount from the on-death gold. The gold drops are bonus on top of this. There should also be a fairly decent pay-off if you beat the big-bad at the end.

The dungeon is too easily, very soloable, takes little effort. If you're a stormlord..

You can raise the difficulty level by getting drunk. There should be a sign posted outside the entrance saying something like, " Warning! do not enter if player is intoxicated!"

Loot table in the last room is all over the place. You'll go some trips and come away with a Falchion of Burglary, a Cloak of Fire Warding, and gold, and others you'll step out with a Shocking Kama of Greater Wisdom, Defensive Fullplate, Sorceror's Ring of Lesser Agility, and gold. You'll go some other time and get nothing from the racks that are supposed to contain magic items.

The chests and weapon and armor racks respawn their loot. The gold piles do not.

It was once suggested that the end-of-dungeon containers would have a chance to spawn red-level items; they don't. I'd suggest adding in that chance, or just adjusting the loot drops so blue-level items are more common. It's a level 18-20 area, difficulty wise, so gear appropriate for level 18-20s would make sense.

They should have a progressively decreasing chance to spawn green, blue, and/or red level items. That being said, I've never quite gotten the loot tables to work properly. The worm at the beginning, for instance, is supposed to have a decent chance to drop a random ore -- never seen it do so. GBX was putting in a new loot table system, but I'm unsure of the state of that.

Running through Mossdale to the Temple of Grummsh and then back to the Shargaas Temple can easily net you 2-3 times the amount of cash as you get from the Whurest Ruins.

Same with running Veritas You can make 6000 gold and the drops at Veritas are way better than what I have seen from the Whurest Ruins.

On top of this both areas are much easier imo.

Since when do the veritas have 'drops?' As far as I know, they've got the default crappy loot tables.

In the chests, that give out lots of gold, sometimes gems, sometimes green items, and rarely blue items. At least, that's the only thing I can think of that could be considered good 'loot'.

I would be inclined to agree, unless quicksilver, carrots, and blueberries have gone up in price lately.

Well, lets say I have gotten, Greens and Blues out of the Chest with a huge gem list. Kings Tear, Rogue Stone, Blue Diamond, Diamond, Jacinth, Beljuril, Star Sapphires, Saphires, Emeralds, Rubies. Veritas has a pretty decent loot table and perhaps the only loot table for Gem Drops. Of course I have also ran that place many many times vs the handful of times in the Whurest Ruins, best drop from the ruins is the Gray Dwarf Hearts.
