  • Are melee characters becoming more viable?

I realise im probably setting myself up for a fall here but after trying out a few of the newer areas I think Sundren is becoming somewhat more entertaining for martial characters (ones who dont have DR in double digits).
Single class rogues and rangers can actually play a part in combat without having to cower at the back; unless your an archery ranger in which case its probably the best place for you.

Was just wondering if anyone has a similar view of the newer stuff?

I hope so! Have there been any changes recently to make melee'rs more attractive, or is it just a current trend you noticed?

There isn't much newer stuff to speak of, right now. As before, you're solid until about level 8 or 9 (unless you're an archery ranger with the right favored enemies), and then you taper off. That's all being addressed by the staff in the next long-awaited, not-to-Duke Nukem Forever levels of anticipation and skepticism yet, update.

*plays an archery ranger/darkwood stalker* Yep... well Ill be taking my bow and seeing you down mossdale :S

        # Edit

Do you know if favoured enemy bonus build via ranger level or the amount of favoured enemies? Cause as a darkwood stalker I might either be severely overpowered or really gimped depending on which way it rolls!

Yeah, the only place I currently can handle safely alone at level 12 with spending only about 150g in buffing and healing is Necropolis. And the loot there is so bad I don't recoup losses, so I'm better off levelling by RP (if I can find it!). If I see any of those instant-death-spell-casting priests I have to run away, and anything else gives 3XP.

Still hoping on the DNF update.
Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! And she gives a mighty bellow:
"Brace yourself, oh human speck of dust! You are made of meat and I am very hungry!"
