  • Sundren Voice comms?

I see on the forums theres is an old thread about joining an old Team Speak 2 server to chat with each other over voice comms.

I was wondering if there was any newer server set up for the community to pop on and chat, something like Ventrilio or Teamspeak 3?

I also noted that in the discussion thread about the ts2 server there was an issue with low numbers of slots avaliable for those who actually wanted to log in and chat.

I could not help but notice, however, the green bar at the top of the Sundren website. It seems that the kind fols who have donated money to Saulus have pushed above the yearly figure. And we currently seem o be showing 3040 canadian dollars.

Assuming that for whatever reason the target of 3000 canadian dollars is somehow all needed to keep the server running, I am pretty sure that for the sum of 40 canadian dollars you could probably buy a really good voice comms server with ample slots for any and all who would like to chat online.

You could even set it up so that there were rooms for individual adventuring parties to discuss strategies and tactics whilst out ridding the world of evil or whatever.

Of course I freely accept the possibility that this may all very well be a moot point as there could already be something like that running, and I have just somehow managed to miss it.

    But.. what do folks think?

I personally have not donated, so I really have no voice in where that money might get used for the betterment of the community. Still I thought I would kick the idea out there and see what happens.

    Cheers,

    Delexos.

I know many people enjoy voice comms.

Having used them extensively on many games in the past, I've concluded they are absolutely evil, and I wish they had never been invented.

...except to keep in touch (outside of the game) with friends, family, and for meetings with international teams. Not for use while playing.

I think Saulus filled a lot of that donation bar himself.

I used to have one, you mentioning it has reminded me about it, so I have a new one setup.

        Teamspeak 3

        Server: ts.sundren.org:9124

        No password.

The info is under Contact us as well.

The ability to speak, plan, and enjoy OOC hands-free, without cluttering up chat and derailing RP, makes voice chat programs nearly a godsend. Furthermore, voice chat programs have also introduced the danger of ousting pretend females. It ruins the internet lives of a lot of guys who seek out internet-attention from pretending to be women. This is hilarious to me, but I suppose it is quite evil to those pretending.

VoIP chat programs like Ventrilo, Teamspeak, etc help release the desire to flame and troll via speech instead of posting such outbursts through multiple replies to a topic.

I've never made claims about my gender. Quite the contrary, I'm an active advocate of considering me entirely genderless.

                      Change the topic, please?

Subject change: I don't typically like Teamspeak. Ventrilo is the best.
