I tried something like this a loooonnnggg while back, and was thinking people might be interested in it again.
If your character is looking to do some alignment shifting, killing, talking, interacting, whatever - basically RPing, but DMs are too busy or you can't find the right player character to interact with, I was thinking you could post here and I or anybody else who's interested could take up the challenge of playing something new and helping your progression along.
The following are just a few quick examples of what I was thinking of:
1. Say your character has suffered some traumatic event and you want to RP that he/she has become a brutal killer because of that event. However, you don't want to step on people's toes by killing other toons, and you can't just attack the NPC commoners. However, if you post here or message me with the details, I could roll up a John Smith Commoner, cross your path, and let what happens happens.
2. Or, if your character has family - and you wish for your character to interact with said parent/sibling/child - I could roll up a character to your specifications and interact with you in that way.
3. Need a bully for your burgeoning hero to stand up to? I'll be the bully. Need victims for your serial-killer madness to play out? I'll be the victims.
Obviously there are certain limitations to this, one being that you will not gain any DM XP for this, but I think you can at least move your character's story along. The other is that the request has to be reasonable - I'm not a DM so I can't create a level 30 epic warlock for you to defeat. Anything I can roll will be at most level 3 - so keep that in mind. In the same sense, I can not shift your alignment on your character sheet. I can only help you RP out that shift.
Still, the end result would be that your character's personal story has developed, if just a little bit.
I have more time on my hands now and can generally be on in intervals of 2-3 hours anytime between 2PM - 10PM PST. If you're interested, just let me know!
If others are interested in volunteering too, please feel free!
