DM time can fluctuate for a variety of reasons, this is after all the time of year that is infested with exams, moving house and holidays.

Just over a week ago it wasn't unusual at all to see 2-3 DMs on and running events (admittedly I can only vouch for the BST timezone).

That said, if you feel you have the experience, drive, time, maturity and imagination required to DM, then we will be happy to look over an application.

I see some fair activity in my time zone GMT +1.

I am on in the afternoons, sometimes evenings.

Things like, vacations to see my family (been 7 months since last time I saw any of them) and a job that takes me out of internet range during the summer for 10days at a time, well this all contributes to me logging only 20 hours a month. (a part part time job? unpaid of course.)

All of us try to get on as much as we can. It sucks you seem to be missing us when we do. Though I could say the same thing about players when I have been on. I have logged on and out of the 3-5 people on NO ONE has any goals! Other than grinding. Not much to work with...

I have also seen 2 DM to 1 PC, this just two days ago.

        When we are on:

Have a goal when you hit us up (and don't be afraid to ask!) Just don't ask what is happening with X plot. Tell us what you want to do and it is easier for us to help.

We might be busy and sometimes we don't get back to you. 15min later ask again, we might have missed you the first time. Running DM client is like multitasking while multitasking.

        When we aren't on:

Get involved with other characters. Moderate yourselves as much as possible.

Think of something you can do with out a DM on. So that when one does log on you only need to report or deliver something quickly. If we are busy and you only need us for 5min, it is easier for us to get to you. If we aren't busy, well then, we have something to keep you going or build a mini event off of.

Instead of a QQ post, create some RP posts with a hook. PM a DM pointing to it. "hey you ran this event for me and I posted this check it out."

That is the sort of stuff that gets us motivated.

Thanks for your post, Acorn. It does raise some questions and thoughts in my mind, probably due to my lack of experience on the server. So here they are:

I'm still unclear as to what sort of request might be considered. Part is due to what appears to me to be conflicting advice and part probably due to misinterpreting the advice thread.
For example, recently I was advised by a friend in-game that I should ask for a mini-quest with an item goal. I replied that as far as I could tell from reading the advice thread, this was not the sort of thing you could ask for. I asked what an example might be and my friend said they had submitted the request and that it was already accepted. I'm grateful to both my friend and Grinning Death for the mini-event, but I still have no idea what the request consisted of, so I'm still in the dark about requesting another.

While I understand why you are saying this, most if not all of the goals I personally do have happen to revolve around ongoing plots.

Lack of this type of involvement by players (with a very small number of notable exceptions) is one of the reasons the Brigade disbanded.

Would this have been something that could have been done with the Brigade missions? I for one had no idea that this might be a possibility, nor what sort of request might have been possible.

I guess what I'm really saying with all this is that some (maybe a lot of) players, especially those of us with little experience, don't really know how to go about making requests that are likely to get accepted. Would it be acceptable to ask a DM on-line for a mini-tutorial with some character-specific examples, instead of an actual event?
          Cheers,
          Dave

Hello boys and......girls? wait are there any other girls other then me on here?

Any way, I will be back to DMing various events for you guys in the Asian Pacific time zones once I get my PC cooling unit in which has been on its way for about 6 weeks now (damn military mail for being so fucking slow). I will gladly do some RP post DMing if you like, but I can't do anything in-game until the cooler arrives.

                        Yeah, it's men always.

Which is what makes social servers so damn funny.

Well on Sundren you do need DMs in order to have in depth stories and stuff like that, because the servers fundamentals are set up in a way where it's very hard to be proactive without a DM. Players can't lead factions or start factions, can't get involved in a system of government and can't make server altering decisions. It's more of a story played out by DMs. Which isn't bad if you enjoy this kind of play. But DMs are a must on Sundren if you want to progress a story.
