  • Class Related Stores

I know there's a Monk specific store and I know there's a barbarian specific store (and it has some nice bloody kit, seriously), what I'm wondering though is if there's a fighter specific store.

  • #2
Keywords is they have SOME good stuff ... IMO we either need more players to make items or we need more Vendors who sell various items. Also IMO Most stores are fighter specific stores you just gotta find the right store for what you want. If you need more of a selection than the probably 100+Pieces of Armor and possibly the same amount for weapons Then I have no idea on what to tell you. Thats a lot more than the MAYBE 10 Pieces of armor that Monks have. There is practically nothing for me to buy which is a good thing as Im level 9 and already saved up enough dough to get the level 10 required Weeping Friar Robes, which are +3 Armor, Jump, Climb and Balance and Aid (3) 1/day and Divine Favor (5) 1/day (Both of which are particularly useless spells) ... and before people jump me for saying the robes kinda suck BOTH of these Buffs can be overwritten with a cleric of 10th level who also has better buffs to offer ... so basically I end up with +3 to Armor robes. The + to skills could be cool in a PnP setting where you actually have skill points into those skills ...

The Staff is working on a new crafting system, so this may be a moot point. I do know that they are making changes with the vendors so if you see one that is not working bring it up in th ebug section and play a part of the community.

I think that the rodes are at the very least useful, unless you are doing a sacred fist build, I have never seen a Monk cast either of those spells. I for one use both of those spells with any Cleric/FS. There are places Swim/Jump/Climb skills come in use, one in particuler that I can think of, you can avoid some mobs and sneak up on a few other. The staff has put spots for these about the server you just have to find them. While I under stand the point you are trying to make, there is always a better format to make them in. Please remember that the people (staff) that VOLUNTEER their personal time to a game that you can enjoy. Suggestions not complaints go a long way.

It's also worth noting, because I love to nitpick, that Divine Favor can't be cast on an ally, so anyone who's actually just a Monk will always benefit from a uses/day of Divine Favor. ^^

Im not complaining, I am stating a fact. If I wasn't satisfied with just +3 AC robes then I wouldn't have spent my in game cash on it. The other stuff is just a bonus. I am just saying that I have seen some really awesome items that are like +4 with damage reductions and resistances etc down to the lowly non enchanted stuff and many in between IMO there is no real need for a fighter specific store do to most public stores being able to suit the needs of the general fighter.

To some extent yes, it will be usefull for about the duration of a good fight. Now if it was like the PnP version the 5 levels would actually make a difference so in all reality it can be cast as a 3rd level caster and its the same as a 5th level caster. There for the 3rd level Aid and 5th Level Divine Favor should be switched. The extra in skills doesn't even play into the lore behind the item. They were made for those who would endure pain for others. Not be a better athlete for others.

As far as other class related Stores, There is a Bard one in Aquan. Barbarian one out of the North Path of Aquan, The rogue ones I think you pretty much gotta be a rogue to even get to them and are scattered around a bit. Monk is in Sestra at the Monistery. Thats all I know of.

How is +3 robes with skill bonuses and two very useful buffs (put both together and you get +3 AB, +2 Damage and some HP) useless?

I'm currently level 14 and packing +0 Fullplate. Which I have to use an item to buff to its solo maximum of +1 Fullplate.

                        The Scene:
Four well-dressed men are sitting together at a vacation resort.
'Farewell to Thee' is played in the background on Hawaiian guitar.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
Aye, very passable, that, very passable bit of risotto.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
Nothing like a good glass of Château de Chasselas, eh, Josiah?

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
                        You're right there, Obadiah.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
Who'd have thought thirty year ago we'd all be sittin' here drinking Château de Chasselas, eh?

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
In them days we was glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
                        A cup o' cold tea.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Without milk or sugar.

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Or tea.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
In a cracked cup, an' all.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
Oh, we never had a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
The best we could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth.

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
Because we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness, son".

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Aye, 'e was right.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Aye, 'e was.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
I was happier then and I had nothin'. We used to live in this tiny old house with great big holes in the roof.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
House! You were lucky to live in a house! We used to live in one room, all twenty-six of us, no furniture, 'alf the floor was missing, and we were all 'uddled together in one corner for fear of falling.

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
Eh, you were lucky to have a room! We used to have to live in t' corridor!

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
Oh, we used to dream of livin' in a corridor! Would ha' been a palace to us. We used to live in an old water tank on a rubbish tip. We got woke up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us! House? Huh.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
Well, when I say 'house' it was only a hole in the ground covered by a sheet of tarpaulin, but it was a house to us.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
We were evicted from our 'ole in the ground; we 'ad to go and live in a lake.

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
You were lucky to have a lake! There were a hundred and fifty of us living in t' shoebox in t' middle o' road.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Cardboard box?

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
                        Aye.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.

                        SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of 'ot gravel, work twenty hour day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!

                        THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
Well, of course, we had it tough. We used to 'ave to get up out of shoebox at twelve o'clock at night and lick road clean wit' tongue. We had two bits of cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at mill for sixpence every four years, and when we got home our Dad would slice us in two wit' bread knife.

                        FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

                        FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
And you try and tell the young people of today that ..... they won't believe you.
                        ALL:
                        They won't!

I know everyone's ragging on full plate options and stuff but actually what I'm refering to as the "Interesting bits" of the class store actually has more to do with the trinkets and stuff more than armor. Having cloaks, bracers and necklaces and stuff ideally itemized on a class per class basis would be nice as it can be hard to come by certain useful items without being in specific factions. It's nice having a neutral alternative that uses level investment requirements to keep that stuff out of multiclass dipping builds out of the loop of them.

It's got less to do with the exclusive power levels of it than that. I's just awesome being able to walk around on a barbarian and know "Well regardless of what I do faction wise with this character I've got some nice item options down the way."

What do you do with your money? Throw it away? by level 5 you should be able to get +1 maybe even +2 Full Plate (Don't know how much that costs). I never said the Armor was useless just the buffs. Trust me +3Armor for a monk is pretty nice.

I do like that there are items that take 15levels in a single class just to use (these are often extremely powerful ones such as the Barbarian and Swashbuckler stores) this gives incentive to pretty much go single class. Something that is hard to do and not be shadowed by PrCs. This gives those single class players a good edge.

An edge? No. They still don't stack up to the more powerful classes/combinations by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a nice sentiment.
