They already do that, this just makes it less harsh on the noobs.

I doubt there'll be any more ganking from this system, the people who do it generally do it through boredom or for their own near-griefy, borderline-justifiable enjoyment of spoiling other folks' fun.

    ...Positive note, it looks awesome.

Any idea of a time frame where this will be coming in? Will it be trickling in, or will there just be one massive overhaul?

I really hope not. if it is , it will end my time here on Sundren... as a player

I suspect it will be balanced for fun, not for every day perma death.

It always makes me chuckle when people seem to think they know what will happen with certain changes, and then they turn out to be completely wrong.

          Just amusing.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I never guessed at how the changes would work. Just saying.

The death system is good, guys, and if you're worried about your points, you just have to play it safe for a bit. It's actually a great concept. For example, Black Hand needs to get shit done, so they kill Dain a few times. Now Dain has to lay low and actually recover from the beatdowns, giving the BH more room to operate.

I too cannot wait for the changes to take place. After reading over them again, I'll seriously be tempted to ask for a layoff from work so I won't have to spend all my time in shittyinternetland... Now just a matter of making that sound good to the wife.... "Honey, I'm quitting work because I want to play my game." *dodges thrown object*

Which is why I'm curious as to what happens if a low level defeats a high level. Does the high level lose as much essence as he would from an equally matched player or does he lose more because a lower level killed him.

Also, are ECL's taken into account for determining essence lost? If the ECL 28 vampire kills the level 20 human will the human lose the essence of having lost to a level 20 or a level 28?

I'm all for perma'ing, and if not a one-time-you're-out kind of deal, then perma'ing after a certain level. I think the point system is a good compromise.

I very much enjoy the idea.

Just a contingency I just had a brainwave about: make sure that it can't be such that, say, a L20 and a L20 battle - fair enough. But then, a L9 runs in to try and make the killing blow, causing the L20 all sorts of point-related issues.

That said: I still love the idea, hence the above notion!

To me that seems the sort of issue that is so extremely blatant it could be easily reported to DM's should it occur and proper action taken.
