  • Promoting Sundren

Well ive been kinda bugged lately with the lack of players on the server, so my proposal would be to the players to perhaps promote Sundren on other servers they play on, Ingame that is not on those other servers forums since that would be rude to do so.

Anyone got any other ideas that might help?

Well one thing I wanted the DMs to do more of is announce events so people will login at that time and hopefully encourage other players to login.

A big part of getting a larger player populace again will be the updates we have working on -- they are coming along slowly which is understandable with everyone busy with life in general.

I'd come down hard on anyone I found encouraging players to leave our server to go elsewhere, and I'd suspect most DMs on most servers would have the same attitude.

Definitely not something I'd want people to do, it breeds bad feeling and bad reputations.

I'm not very in touch with the NWN 2 community, but it couldn't hurt to create/bump Sundren threads on community forums that discuss RP PWs.

I'd have to agree with Doubt, mostly. It's somewhat unprofessional to preach the praises of another server when playing here. I wouldn't want anyone do it to us, and I wouldn't lobby anywhere else.

Agreed. Fine to promote on open, community-based forums and chats. But openly snaking people from another server using their own forums or server chats is usually frowned upon.

I take the completely immoral route and say we hack and sabotage other popular servers so folks have no where else to go... MuHuHAHAHAH.

JK, actually. If people could post RP posts about events, interesting RP happenings and such in the Rumors area I think it might help people get and stay interested.

Likewise, if at all possible... if you're going to post something in your faction RP forum but it is not really a particularly sensitive topic, perhaps you might want to throw that out in public view as well.

Always be helpful to Noobs (within the rules of course). Both IC and OOC. Make sure they are finding what they need... potions, quests, temples, inn storage, things to RP about. Not a bad idea to tell them about the level cap... how soloing is discouraged... how cool it is to join a faction and earn rep in various ways. I think I have seen a couple new players turned away cause the server was harder than they expected and such. Yada Yada.

I am only a Sundrenian since January, but yes I have seen a lot of great players start not showing up. I think many are waiting on the coming changes... I think many have hit lvl 20 and don't really know what to do next. *shrugs* I also think some are just on hiatus for various reasons and I'm starting to see some of them come back.

It's a great server, I also hear that these mass exoduses (exodusi? exodi?) come and go and I am choosing to play through this one.

              Cheers,
              G

Word of mouth. It's hardly ever people bringing strangers to do new PWs.

It's friends bringing friends, based on that first one's impression of a server. Or lack of one.

Also, giving ECL8 classes to players really hurt this server. Someone's gotta say it.

Opinions are valued. But this is a role play server. The only thing that hurts it is when people do not role play.

I know not of these ECL +8 classes. Oh, you must be talking about Favored Souls.

Lets try not to hypothesize. I already know a handful of people who would disagree and give another reason. Which is just as GD said, it's all opinion -- and irrelevant at this point.

Server population's slowly on the rise, we're averaging around 7-9 players during daytime GMT right now which is a definate improvement on only a few weeks ago. The more people play, the more interesting events we can run, and the better the word of mouth will be. It's a self-reciprocating cycle.

Might be worth asking how people came to join sundren.

For me it had half a dozen players on in my time zone in the gamespy login lobby thingo.

I brought 2 players with me.

Of course it cannot be overlooked that upon logging in, I found this new land to be good.

Being involved in a side trek or adventure with a dm make sNWN2 a different game and certainly gets me and my friends hooked in line and sinker.

                            Thanks
