  • Good vs Evil in sundren

Hello everyone , most probably don't remember me but that's okay it was long ago. I have a question, I have been agonizing making a character the last... week actually. A bit of information at this point would help me. How is the current balance of good VS evil right now? I generally like to play for the underdog. I am more so referring to how many good, vs evil active players we see on a day to day basis , does one side outweigh the other in terms of power and influence?

I understand this will be heavily tainted by perspective and time zone, but I appreciate any input I can get.

    Thank you

    I remember Kira! Good fun.

From what I've seen we're pretty balanced on the whole good/evil scale at the moment.

Anyway, good/evil is boring and filmed in low-def dull-o-vision.

Get yourself in on some law/chaos goodness, or even better - personality conflicts rather than alignment ones (bring on the LG v LG wars).
It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

Oh I have no problem with that! I have conflicting character concepts already prepared for both sides of the argument. I generally do not like playing a straight good/evil do-er . I was just trying to get an overall feel (and honesly, to help me choose between 3 different character concepts I am tossing around with myself)

The good v evil slider changes drastically every few months as people come/go/make new characters.

I'm sure you'll experience enough of being the underdog either way as long you stick with it.
"Sir, we're surrounded!" "Excellent! Now we can attack in any direction."

Right now, you can play anything and be certain that it's not oversaturated.

            Upvote for awesomeness.

Some of the best roleplaying sessions I've had were in campaigns with 'good' party members but each one aligned to a different faith and pushing their own agenda. In one case there were two players with the exact same faith, but they came from different internal factions, so there was a subtle pressure to 'one up' each other and promote their own special flavour of 'Lawful Good' as The One True Way.

Six hour sessions of political negotiations/emotional manipulation, with nary a dice roll? Ooh yeah!

From what I have seen of players in Sundren, there are few obvious 'good' and 'evil' characters; at least from first impressions and appearances. Many are indeterminate and undisclosed. This is great, as few people IRL walk around with placards proclaiming their motivations or alignments. This is awesome, as you never really know who or what you're meeting.

Is that dark stranger really a stereotypical delver of Pandora-like Lovecraftian horrors or perhaps he just likes dressing that way?

Is that handsome fellow in shining plate, vacuously declaiming honour and glory really just what he appears to be, or is it all an elaborate charade?

You'll never know... until it's too late.

I'm liking this shades-of-grey Sundren more and more.

I play a mix but mostly evil.

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.

If you'd be interested in joining the dark side, there's a small group of evil-doers getting form in the current time.

*pops his head in* About 3 weeks and I can play again!...

Oh, and I suggest making a neutral toon, the server needs (well... needed back the last time I played, might have changed recently) more toons that are just as likely to attack a paladin as they are to attack a vampire!
                    My to-be toon:
                    Shafiq Al-Mawt: Zakharan myrkulite.

                    My tomb of old toons:
Cruven Schlachten - Blood Reaver of Garagos, Blackwood Company Elite, Hellstrom Head of Security
Marcus Waynard- Horned Harbinger, fear his best bud Frank!... and Jim, Bob, Sue, and Jane...
Davlamin Frostfoot - Frosty Snowflake, the Frozen Fist of Auril, sworn enemy of the Second Wind fire pit.

You can be evil and attack both...in fact it's easier that way.

And when it comes to events - I rarely pre-check alignments.

I pick players that are outgoing and active, and only then potentially check their alignment so I know what to expect.

                          So that's another 2 cents!

Same here. Mostly just guidelines for me. Though, I will shift yours if you are acting discordantly.

Really? I'm assuming that this works in much the same way as the standard scripting does. i.e: For doing certain action, DM awards you X points on the Law-Chaos, Good-Evil scales accordingly.
