  • Where are the healing kits?... then what use is the heal skill?

Even though this has been kicking around in the back of my head since I joined Sundren a few months ago, it just recently struck me as quite odd?...

I have not seen a single healing kit ever anywhere on the server! Can someone please explain why or point me at the post that does? It seems quite a strange thing to get rid of. It also seems that the "heal" skill is absolutely useless operationally if there are no kits.

    Many thanks,
    Canus

Um. Bandages? Heal skill is not useless.

Healing kits were removed because we got tired of people popping them like potions. Putting a bandage on shouldn't be done in the middle of a battle.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

How does heal skill reflect in how bandages work? Does it add to your check to cure poison? Does it increase how much the bandage heals? When I use a bandage it always seems to act the same regardless of my char's heal skill.

      thank you!

Do bandages actually take the Heal skill into account? Abigail has high Heal (for a level 4 anyway) and bandages still seem to only cure for 1 HP a "tick".

Otherwise, "Heal" I think would also includes the sciences of medicine and anatomy, and can be useful when roleplaying, just like conversation skills.

I think it determines how often/for how long the ticks occur. I could be wrong though.

I believe having more ranks in heal increases the amount healed on the kicker. You can heal a great deal more after the 10 or so 'ticks'.

The bandager's heal skill increases the number of ticks you get.
The bandagee's CON stat increases the kicker.

The bandager's heal skill also affects how much is healed per tick. For every 10 points in the heal skill, the amount healed per tick goes up by 1.

I stand corrected, and I like how that's used.

This is all great info... thank you. I guess my only beef with the system is that bandages do not work on animal companions.... so my dog bleeds all over the house when I get home from an Ogre massacre.

                        thanks
