You bring up a good point, however if someone feels that their character has become stagnant then they can choose to perm them with some kind of plot not to some random lag spike.

Well said, homie. I'm going to hit that little rep bar by your name.Originally posted by Kasso View PostDo I ENJOY having my characters permed or disfigured? No, it's not a pleasant experience and the first time I went through it it was a harsh blow. Though with my lengthened experience with perma death servers, PnP and losing characters in the past, I'd happily trade one character, regardless of how much time I put into them, for the heightened euphoria of being a mortal character in a living world, over the MMORPG feel that most NWN2 servers like to portray.
I like my villain, Varsick. And I hope team good likes having him has a foe. But he is a paladin murderer (not that that can be proven, so don't meta you bastards!). And if this was brought to light, along with his already known affiliation with an illegal religious organization, then I'd hope I'd get some real results.
After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.

Tigen sets Varsick on fire every time he see's him, how much more real of results can you get? :PTigen Amastacia: Died in events so you didn't have to.
Quintin Ulsteris: Nice-guy Legion engineer, deceased son of House Ulsteris.

Tigen attacks just about anyone. He is more violent then just about anyone.Originally posted by Torgar View PostTigen sets Varsick on fire every time he see's him, how much more real of results can you get? :P
I don't like the idea of perma death from any area, however, I do like the ideas of level loss, loss of some items, extended death ((I like this one)), and the temple only and very expensive raise. Though on the last I think maybe 10-25k for a raise would be enough to hurt.

So lets steer this ship and get those who were not following since page one ontrack and educated.
~Permadeath is nolonger an option
~Most of the concern is around grinding the areas, some enjoy the 20lvl soft cap others welcome a chance to adventure after 20lvl for xp
~The risk is still undecided but seems to push towards a type of long duration penatlies (ability scores, or a type of "fatigue") upon death/failure.
~Option of only being rezzable by the NPC church was brought up as to the inherant penalties
~Some concerned about item power available
~No one enjoys the idea of item loss.
~These areas would incorperate skills as well as combat prowess, dynamic spawns, and grouping would be a necessity.
~Those who have leveled straight Bard up to 21+ will be getting "Epic Masocist" cards upon levelup
Hope I got everything. . . As for me the rogue/wizard. If you're worried about Casters tearing through encounters understand that upon rest any caster has a maximum damage potential (5 fire balls =x damage). Where fighters can swing that ol' meatstick till they find Jimmy Hoffa's body. So disable resting in these epic areas and make some meaty creatures with some HP then casters will pick and choose their casting frequency. Perhaps only Rangers can rest in the most epic of places, or even a survival DC to rest.
My opinions, can't say cause I don't have any sugegstions and I'm also nowhere near level 7 so I'm not educated enough about high level dynamics on the server.Ben Krows

~FireFighters are the modern day knight that fights the red dragon and save the innocent. So why are so many suprised I'm a nerd as well?

Generally, the power of the caster is not in their fireballs, it's in the fact that they buff themselves to be far, far, ridiculously more effective than a fighter. (With spells, Clerics gain AB and attacks equal to a fighter, 24 hours of +8 AB and Damage from weapon enchants/divine favour, +6 Str, all their other stats buffed by 4, damage reduction, crit immunity, freedom of movement, haste, energy immunity, +silly saves, spell resistance, +10 AC from Magic Vestment, etc etc) I've heard but not seen, that a self-buffed Cleric out-fights a Fighter buffed by a Cleric and a Wizard, thanks mainly to things like Divine Power.Originally posted by Rendrick View PostWhere fighters can swing that ol' meatstick till they find Jimmy Hoffa's body. Anyway, they can buff themselves up and generally fight in steroids-mode until they can rest once more, usually for hours.
Short of extremely hardcore Mord's sprees by monsters there (which, likely, will strip any buffs from Fighters and leave them as little more than easily-killed mooks), there's little to no way to stop this, mechanically without nerfing them.
My main concern with this is that to stop the area being grinded easily, it needs to be built to deal with the best of equipped powerbuilds and overpowered classes, meaning things like Swashbucklers and pure fighters are just going to hit the dust and have no hope there, meaning we end up with more power to the powerbuilds since they can now hit epic.Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! And she gives a mighty bellow:
"Brace yourself, oh human speck of dust! You are made of meat and I am very hungry!"

Under the current kill system you do not get money from kills if you are too high a lvl above what you are killing...I can forsee difficulties for anyone actually reaching past lvl 23 achieving any source of income outside of these areas which makes the %'s work against them as even the massivly OP clerics rumored to exist manage to die off and on
I'm still in favor of de-lvling most...as long as it takes them back to 20 regardless
but I'm also one that would prefer more attention for areas of the lvl range 7-15 than 20+"Half the lies they tell about me aren't true."

GBX wants it, you can tell he wants it. He's drooling over the idea of true consequence for retarded players actions. He's like "Yeah, Kasso, gunna get him, gunna get him so good. Hide yo' kids Kasso, hide yo' wife!"Aesa Volsung - Uthgardt Warrior
