I like the idea of death sickness. Lower strength, constitution, dexterity, and make spell failure at like 80% or something upon failure. Make it unable to cure for about a week to a month. Loss of items, reputation, or anything permanent seems a little drastic. If they lost that, it'll probably just make them want to grind some more to get their stuff back, or give up completely. I mean the people at level 20+ just want something to do to have fun. I don't think harsh punishment will encourage that.

I'd be for this if I didnt see one MAJOR issue with it.... How the BLEEP do you come up with an IC reason for it?...

I personally can't wait for the abyss to be fixed. That's how you pick up chicks.

"So, where were you all day?"

"Well I killed thirty demons, stole this dude's head, used it to get into hell, whooped some more demon ass, had a picnic on the beach (in hell) and then I came back here."

              "You went to the abyss?"

              Demotion.

              "Dumbass."

That's pretty much how I'd expect most people to react if you went to the abyss, and died.

If you survived it'd be more like...

              "Holy shit? Wtf?"

could make the bad statts cureable with a high DC "heal skill" roll and give that skill a point outside of RP. something like 40-60 maybe.

the token is a good idear but im a little iffy on "select godlike item please"

on another note i can remember a list or epic feats being voide here so anything you make should keep that in mind.

I disagree. I think the hefty stats drop should persist, no matter what. Call it a problem with raising people whose souls were in the Abyss, or somesuch.

I'd say a week for the drop, easy. Maybe more.

Epic Spells, and one bard spell are disabled. They might be reenabled with a review of their potency. I know the bard one was like, 100 sonic damage which is easy to ignore if you have sonic energy immunity.

Think its double your perform skill in sonic damage to everyone in an area every round for 5 rounds. I'm not sure of the actual mechanics -- if its unmodified perform skill or not/etc.

I propose a system of fatigue as the someone else said , but instead make it on a different level .

1-10 fatigue works like crafting but for dungeons

1-3 would be one run through the dungeon /going to hell taking quite a heavy toll on ones body . -2 to each stat for 72 hours.

3-6 would show the weakening of your system for dealing with the elements your dealing with in the other plane or just in general the stress your under from going back into such a dangerous place. -4 to each stat effect fatigued , 72 hours this is accumulative to 1-10.

6-10 You have traveled to this realm so often it has taken a permanent toll on your body -1 strength - 1 con -1 dex.

Basically idea is ever time you go down it uses 10 points of fatigue . This could be adapted in many ways for going down into the dungeon so that people could not run it constantly , much like crafting you will need to wait or pay the consiquences of possibly harming yourself permanently.

As for death i think making only temple raise would be quite worthless since would make no sense if you have a cleric epic level that is more intune with their god then the local preist.

I think with a system of fatigue like i said would be infact a punishment in its own, you die and still have to get the corpses out , and you arent going to run back down because you know by going back down so quickly you are going to take basically a weeks worth of harsh penalties, and possibly permanent damage to your character for being so carless. All these would stacks if you ran down into the abyss saturday you took the -2 to all stats, say you made it out but wanted to go back down , go back down monday with your fatigue still there , you take -4 + fatigued now , so total -6 + fatigue for another day 72 more hours.

You get the picture from here, this in itself would punish a characer if he survives or not. Should he make it out he still gets punished for doing good, if he dies he gets punished and cant do it again without risking further punishment. so will make them think twice before going back after that phat loot, but will still want to eventually

This is just a base model obviously would need twkage

From the nwn2wiki. From memory from SP it's damage is based on modified perform skill.

                            Song of Requiem

                            • Type of feat: Class, Epic
                              Prerequisite: Bard 21, Perform 24
                              Required for: Hymn of Requiem
Specifics: This song damages all enemies within 20 ft for 5 rounds. The total sonic damage caused is equal to twice your perform skill; the minimum damage caused per target is one-third your perform. For example, with perform 30, a total of 60 points of damage is inflicted each round. If six (or more) enemies are affected, they would each take 10 sonic damage per round.

                            Hymn of Requiem

                            • Type of feat: Class, Epic
Prerequisite: Bard 21, Song of Requiem, Perform 30
                              Required for: None
Specifics: Your Song of Requiem now also heals all party members. The amount healed is the same as the damage caused by the Hymn and is divided among all party members; the minimum amount healed per ally is one-third your Perform skill.

True, Energy Immunity protects from that ability, but it pretty much means you HAVE to choose that spell if you want to stand a chance against an epic bard, which isn't good imo

And those that CAN cast it... one lucky dispel and it's over. I'm for bards NOT having either epic song.

Of course, someone has to suffer as a bard until level 21 to even get a chance at it XD I think if people survive that far then whatever. And I just said immunity. We can easily add items to help against things like this if we wanted, like potions of element resistance.

And we can easily modify the thing to have a save too.
