  • Ninja Looting

I assume most people would understand that using stealth to wander through a dungeon and loot containers, without fighting or defeating any of the enemies is a violation of the farming and proper use of stealth rules.

For those who don't, take this as a heads up and a warning. Knock it off.

    Looting

Now, I am not going to name names here, but I have been noticing some questionable things being done lately.

The first thing, we have been seeing people going around and looting from the barrels and chests of their own factions. Don't do this. If you are caught, you will be punished for it.

The next thing is that going through an area solely to loot the place is something that you should probably avoid. If you are going to go through an area, spawn everything, and just loot things, it is not fair to other groups. Yes, things despawn after a time, but there are still times when a group will come there. And if that happens, running into a large spawn with the bosses spawned as well could very well kill the group. It also takes that loot away from the group who is going through there.

So please, be mindful with these things. Thanks.

OK that works. I still have to shake my fist at you, Corny.

Ok to put this back on topic I am going to start by saying one of the people in reference here is my persona Rina Littlefoot (I don't mind calling out my own name)

I will argue that she is simply doing what a rogue is good at doing. Ripping folks off.

besides that there have been many other points brought up as I have discussed this with Cat and others

1 is it unrealistic for a rogue to act as a rogue or any class for that matter and use their skills to make gain in areas comparable to their level.

2 are areas so out of balance that a class must act different then they should ( Ie the need that every party must included a buffer mage and cleric and everyone simply becomes a run forward grind tank)

3 Does forming a party neccesarily promote any more valid rp then going it alone. Often faction and alignment mixes in these adventuring steam roller groups boggles me ( I have often seen the oddest groups simply for the sake of grinding)

4 Is going alone any different from the lack of roleplay grinding folks do daily. More often then not conversation stops the moment blades start flying. The only time anything is said after that is "lets rest here"

I will see where things go on this topic from here before I add my real two cents.

Though I will say I for one as a rogue would love to see a change to the mapping the AI etc. So that going in to an area actually feels like a stealth mission. ( ie being able to pike a gaurd patrol off without drawing a whole room hide the bodies and slink back into the shadows etc)

This isn't an argument, it's a rule. Don't break it.

                Smart man that Cornuto.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

In my own defense to the topic I would like to add the following two definitions as per server wiki

                  Ninja Looting
Ninja looting is defined as following someone else, letting them fight in combat while you pick up all loot right under their nose, keeping it for yourself. This will cost heavy XP deductions if anyone is caught doing so.
If one enters a dungeon well before others arrive he or she is not then defined as ninja looting from the second party to arrive.

                  Farming
Farming is defined as repeatedly traveling across a particular zone, killing enemies for gaining XP, items, and/or gold. Players should spend no more than three hours fighting in a hostile area without breaking for at least an hour to "rest."

Particularly, Sundren DMs will keep an eye out for the following farming behaviors:

                  - Killing unchallenging foes that grant no XP

                  - Getting extraordinarilly wealthy from repeatedly killing foes

                  - Killing foes alone (soloing), which adds no role play value to our community
Making one pass at a dungeon and then moving on is not farming

                    You missed one.

                    Administrator Supremacy

Server administrators and dungeon masters make decisions for the good of the server. Their word on something is final unless appealed to another official who will then review the situation and decide to reinforce or abolish the decision previously made.
Just take the post as a heads up. Don't do this.

Once again a reminder to the players of the server that this is a rules violation.

                        Don't do it.
