  • Reputation: How to get it?

I've been in the Vanguard for a while, and since I've been stuck in the forest for my RP for the most part, I've been doing a lot of running the flags back to the faction base, and try to do so as much as possible.

After having done this a lot, I find that I've now racked up an impressive 270 points of reputation!

    ...

Unfortunately, the medium tier of items have a requirement of 5,000, and some of the items I may want to buy at some point require a Watchman rank, and I don't even know how much rep that requires.

Are there ways to get Reputation in your faction that don't involve repeatedly grinding flag spots?

There are a few ways to do so.

The one you already know is to obtain banners and bring them back to your faction HQ. Those go from 10 to 40 reputation points, I think.

Another way is to participate in your faction's forum. Making reports on your activities may have DMs read them and if they find it noteworthy they'll swing around and reward you with faction points. Activity in your faction is always good, and it will also promote activity from other faction members as well.

Also, there's stuff you can do in-game with DMs which can increase your faction points. Maia once helped save a spirit creature from Thayans and that netted her 300 faction points with the Wardens of the Vale.

There's winning the Roleplayer of the Month, which will give you 1000 reputation points.

And finally, just what Lothoir said: you can drop by the Donation box in the Ranger Outpost's meeting hall and deposit your hard-earned stags to donate for the cause. 1 extra reputation point is worth roughly 25 gold coins, and the bigger the lump sum you give, the more that bonus will increase (i.e.: a 2500gp donation gives 140 rep rather than 100 rep).

Haven't been added to my factions forums. I seem to remember sending a PM to a DM asking about it, but can't find it >_<

Being active in my faction isn't really possible. Short of going around the forests and demanding every PC tell me what they're doing there, I can't really find much to do. I've helped druid characters with everything I can, and pretty much treat them as respected elders, and have helped about ten people with the starter quests for the Wardens, but again, this amounts to squat in terms of rep points.

Best way is to dump cash, then?

Then you should ask again for faction forum access.

I won't claim there's a whole lot going on there, but I wish there was and I see enough Vanguard characters around so that this should be possible.

It means that even if DMs aren't around to run things with you that other characters in your faction can still interact with you - Maia's probably the highest ranked Nature's Vanguard PC, and if Cirion Reliun shows that he can make some administrative decision and drive some roleplay... I'd like to think me and others can provide the same.

This is great advice by the way. Sure, a lot of times us DMs do not have time to read every story, believe it or not we have lives. But even more so we are not in game to witness you smiting evil, hugging trees, or hanging paladins. Let us know what you are up to. Journals are great for this as are forum faction posts. Personally, I prefer faction post because I can respond and then create an event around what you are doing while including other faction members. I don't know how the other DMs function, but this does help me personalize things a bit more. I already have plans for a few player characters because of this.

Another thing, use the character request section of the forums. Sure, I know our team can be unresponsive at times but I've been trying to get on top of these requests as of late. Don't ask for things. Request them and you'll more likely get a response. Tell us know how you plan to achieve goals instead of just what you want from us. And don't be afraid of rejection, its not personal.. we are trying to create a certain atmosphere here. Rejection does not mean your ideals are bad, it just means they might not fit in this world.
