  • Question: is there somesort of corpse sweeper script, and if so, how does it work?

Sometime last week my Maia suffered a mishap that lead her to fall in the Mossdale. Despite the bummer, she had fallen right over a chokepoint that other adventurers were likely to come across and it wasn't like Maia has a shortage of allies so instead of using a Signus, I decided to hold off and see what would happen.

I logged on and off to check things out, and her corpse was in the same location - then some days later, her corpse ended up in the 'sarcophagus' container in Sestra. That had me blink incredulously - that's like the corpse dumpster, and probably the best way to make sure short-term that no one would find her.

I was sort of contemplating how exactly my character would react to 'recovering' in the care of the Kelemvorites, as well nursing ideas she might've had in regard to properly compensating what to do with the person whom 'insultingly' left her in the care of death priests of a god younger than herself rather than either helping her recover or leaving her to properly rot in the woods.

Another player I was chatting to at the time pointed out that it was likely not something that had been done at the volition of any player and perhaps rather a corpse cleaning script. That took me by surprise, since I assumed the corpses mostly stayed where they had fallen or been moved ICly.

So, seeing I don't remember seeing any info about this kind of script... I thought I'd ask. Does it really exist? How does it work? Any sort of restriction or timespan in regard to its function? and what happens when the Sarcophagus reaches the item limit? (I think that's 128 entries per container)

I have part of the answer. Clive found the body and ooc carried it to the crossroads and dropped it there near the fire to be found more easily. Perhaps if a body is moved from where it fell it gets cleaned up by the script? The would explain why one of my charcters keeps ending up in the same predicament.

Clean-up script works on corpses as of Feb 2010, but seems to be only areas tagged as "civilised"

Before this was done there were quite a few corpses piling up around the place. I remember coming across about a dozen PC corpses lining the entrance of the lizardman sewers. It certainly gave the place an atmospheric "this place is dangerous" feel.

Someone must have picked up your dead body and put in there... maybe a wandering Kelemvorite.

kaizen would gladly place the entombed bodies all over Sestra, you know, if you need someone to find your body.

Yes. The good-ol corpse-vault... now mind you necromancers like this place too, and it provides plenty of fresh meat.

What? People wouldn't want to be resurrected as a zombie slave?
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Creely is all the corpse-sweeping script you need.

Granted, you'll end up buried under six feet of dirt and a wooden grave marker, but then again, that's just normal, isn't it?
