  • Attention Players: Stores and Items

We are in the process of bringing out custom items for stores. However, we will be removing items from players but giving opportunity to turn them in if purchased.

These items should not be purchased or owned:

    1) Katanas with +1d6 damage to evil (Forgot Name)
    2) Agility +1 Belt with Freedom of Movement
    3) Other items to be noted...

If you have one of these overpowered items, we will be yoinking them from you if you don't come forward to turn them in for their value. So don't make us examine your inventories It may not be your fault they are in, but we feel this is urgent enough to warrant a zap. Plus the new items will be more catered anyway. FR Items are so bland.

Perhaps you GBX could write a script that takes the item away from the player on login and replaces it with a undisclosed sum of gold? Makes it easier for both the players and the DMs.

I have seen such scripting done, more or less successfully, on nwn 1 servers. What that one did was to check all the items on a character, then flag the items that were illegal. After that the items got replaced.

    All your doubts and fears,
And if you look in my eyes, in time you'll find,
    The reason I'm here.

      NoooOOooOOOO!

Not my belt! *hugs belt* I had to save my stags for weeks to get it. It gives me an even dexterity score and I want to keep my Gauntlets of Ogre Power, not get +1 Gloves of Dexterity. *flails arms in protest*

And I just got it too T_T

Some of the items went out of the original intentions for how the economy was supposed to work on the server. We don't need any wipe but we do intend to fix this.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

You could always go for the bracers and a "Belt of Fire Giant Strength." ^_^ I am sure that one of our quality suppliers could set you up. Satisfaction guaranteed, at least for the people around you!

Items banned or deemed illegal should just be exchanged for the original value paid for them, not for replacements The player him/herself can use the money to then buy a replacement among the available module items

Oh, I know. Seeing Sundren was in BETA, I expected this sort of things and the inconveniences that come with them.

I can't say I'm raving happy about it though. *mourns the belt already*

...though if I can get a Belt of Hill Giant Strength and a Glove of Dexterity +1, I could get my stats back to even numbers! Who cares about Freedom of Movement - I get that spell anyways! XD

I believe GBX posted above, they'd be reimbursed for value, not with items.

Hey, I'm daydreaming aloud, not saying I want to be given items in exchange. ~_^

Besides, if I really wanted something specific, I'd go for a unique magical bow of utmost pwnage. My character is a priestess of a god of archery, after all - if anything, she should have something more representative of her amazing talent other than that Composite Longbow+1 that all those other rangers have. :-P

It's mostly a mistake on our part. I might make a script to replace them automatically.

Basically when making a store you can't check the item properties while you're adding them, so what tend to happen is, we make a store, and don't look at the properties and assume. A Belt of +1 Agility sounds harmless, but freedom of movement is like O_O.

Is Freedom of Movement really all that great?

Honestly, I don't see that many instances where it's actually of use in Sundren. Lemme think...

                            - My own Entangle spells, when I bother using them and am dumb enough to step in their shortlived area of effect.
                            - Web spells, usually cast by allies for the most part.
                            - A Ghoul's paralyzing touch
                            - The Hold Person spell.

I didn't think it was all that overpowered due to how conditional its application was. It's likely of more use in PvP than PvE too ~_~

Anyhow, it's not the loss of Freedom of Movement that I'm 'mourning'. It's the +1 Dexterity. XD

Freedom of Movement provides an immunity. We will most likely never have any player items with immunities. It's just too overpowered. Such a thing should be only capable via a spell.
