What constitutes a faction area? Is it any area where there are members of your faction stationed? Or is it a specific part of the hold where your faction has it's main power?

I throw this out to the general public because I believe (I'm happy to be cleverly and pleasantly debated with good humour and civility) that certain factions have to large an area where some PC's are considering it their "right to defend".

The veritas have 4 (5 if you include the bunker, which is still accessible in the right circumstances I believe). Anyone in the AA would have about 6 (Sestra, The two temple, the Barracks, and Corps HQ).

The problem I see is that there are certain areas that are needed for general movement from one area to another that are infested with a faction. Should that really be considered a Faction zone? As it stands (if you hadn't guess, I'm talking about the Cartel ) they have 8 zones (I might have missed one or two, but I think that's about right. There are certain areas where 7-10's go where they'd get hosed by high level faction members in a few rounds; We had a debate about the Veritas before, and they've been tweaked. I just want to know what the general feeling is of what should be considered acceptable "hunting" grounds in your faction area.
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
    Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

I think it depends on the faction. I mean, the Druid faction has their base in Viridale, but I'd imagine any forest could be considered their territory.
Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! And she gives a mighty bellow:
"Brace yourself, oh human speck of dust! You are made of meat and I am very hungry!"

      In-Character:

My view would be that you can try and claim any territory for yourself or your faction that is consistent with your character. The main limits would be what you can successfully pull off and what your faction higher-ups would approve of.

Some characters are more aggressive than others, but all characters would have an in-character reason to defend an area their faction wants to actively defend. Hence your question about which areas are considered "home areas" by your faction.

For example, my impression is that Sundren/The Legion claims jurisdiction over the entire valley, but their effective jurisdiction is limited to wherever they can enforce it successfully.

A lone Legionnaire trying to throw his weight around in the heart of the Viridale is likely to get smacked down hard, and may be told not to be so stupid in the future by his superiors. A group of Legionnaires chasing a dangerous criminal through the Viridale and beating down anyone in their way may instead get a "well done chaps" from their superiors if they succeed.

My view would be that any area with own-faction NPC's in it gives almost all characters in-character reason to defend that region.

      Out of Character:

There is a rule against a CvC winner seeking out/attacking another player for two weeks, unless the CvC loser seeks out the winner.

You must also have an in-character reason to attack, as discussed above.

The rule question would then come down to whether having own-faction NPC's attacked nearby negates the two-week limit, and allows a CvC winner to attack someone they've won against in the last two weeks.

I would say it does. However if the other character is clearly outmatched, I would consider restraining from repeatedly immediately attacking and providing some RP first, unless you are standing right next to the combat.
