I think the best way to stop grinding for money is by not letting the shop npcs sell super super rare items that everyone just wants thier hands on. soon enough money becomes useless.
Maia kills gnolls because she hates them and that they are in the forest she wants pacified. Income from that is incidental, but not the cause for it.
On the other hand, I pretty much bought everything I actually wanted out of the shops. Gold ends up going either in magical arrows, healing potions and other consumable like Scrolls of Raise Dead... well, until somehow the amount of gold rises enough to try to go for a commissioned piece like a Ring of Protection +2 from Rodwick that will cost 14 000 stags and take two weeks of wait to obtain...
I suppose we could buy stuff from Thayans too... but wouldn't that be bad? o.O
How about some SetLocal's playing? Name it "n<Race>Vengance" and add one every time the player kills a member of the race. If it reaches a set limit, the player is mobbed by an overwhelming group who got sick of watching their pairs being slaughtered

Well, that will make people very less prone to join fellows known for going on slaugthering rampages on the largely outnumbering monster races out there? Nothing ludicrous about any of it
My character walks the paths every time he is on as his duty to his deity. If I kill things to cleanse those paths is that grinding? I don't tend to go to the 'lairs' on these patrols unless I meet others who are interested in doing so - it seems by this thread any character who actually does kill enemies could become construed as a grinder...
Playing a character who is not political (I'm a druid) my interests are more to do with ensuring that nature is safe, people are aided and (in the case of my deity Gwaeron Windstrom) that those who tend to nature are protected.
Just want to check...
