  • DC on the forums

After reading the letter to Evananda’s 3C company I started thinking about the DC at the bottom, 5…now in game a skill roll has a D.20 just to start so DC 5 would be something a little 7 year old would find challenging. I thought that on the forums is would be better to just use flat skill. Casters assuming none buffed unless they have IC reason to suspect anything, is there a ruling about this anywhere if not what are other people’s thoughts?

That means somebody with 10 in the stats and no interest in it will have about 1/4th chance of not knowing...
However, first you must care. :P

the rules for this are already defined in the wiki

      http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/forgery.htm

it is Forgery skill, the DC is the forger's skill against the reader's forgery skill. There are several listed modifiers for both sides.

Flat skill check would be my personal preferance for forum skill use, otherwise we quickly descend into Taking 10/20, magically high skill rolls (I rolled it behind my hand, of course it's a natural 20!) - of course if you are unhappy with the idea of it being a flat skill check, then you can safely add 20 to the initial target and assume that the person opposing you has spent as much time on it as you.

Also assume casters are unbuffed - I've (again, personally) very strong opinions on people wandering around buffed to heck and back every moment of the day, once I'm back on the client I'm sure these will become painfully obvious to repeat offenders.

http://invisiblecastle.com/ is actually a good solution to avoid roll-cheating. Users can make a profile there, and all of their rolls will be stored on their profile. You can add a descriptive Note to the roll before it is actually made in order to identify what it was for. Rerolls can be spotted easily then.

          Example:
