  • Oh my Garbage!

Hm.. Looking around at the mob areas, Wow. There's so many old loot and "bodies" on the ground, it's hard to even move in some places without picking up or trying to loot something.

I think maybe, removing items that don't sell for a gold even, or possibly adding a trash bin every 10 feet might fix this problem. ;o

It's just awkward, I guess... I try to clean up when I can, but I get so lazy sometimes to even try to do it on a constant basis. Well, that and I get weighed down easily because all my characters don't have over a 12-14 str.

Is this a problem? I was going to post this in the "things you want to see" thread, but I thought it would grab a larger spotlight out in the open? Maybe we can have like a "clothing" shop, that buys the clothing items. But items like the spoon, and things may have their RP value moments, but it's all just garbage I think.

Plus, doesn't it lag up the server with so many lootables on the floor? I'm not sure. And this is just a consideration. I can live with it, it's just something I though you might want to do something with.

    Ta-ta for now.

It is INSANE. I don't know about nwn2 but in nwn the loot drops lagged/hampered some of the servers I was on majorly. Either way, there is still alot of drops. I'm starting to have trouble picking things up, they just won't respond to the loot all button/double-click, after about ten tries I usually manage to pick it up. Places like the Gate of The Sunderer with it's new spawns is basically stuffed with drops at all times

I think if everyone just did their part and actually picked up their stuff when they kill things and put them in a random item box or even a single loot bag that's nearby it would signifigantly reduce lag...

Yashe has 8 strength, so of course I don't pick up any sort of armor or clothing with any intent on carrying it more then 50ft. But I certainly don't leave a dozen loot bags scattered in my wake, I know the spawn locations.

I don't pick up the first item I see that I don't like and then I go and pick up everything else, anything I don't need and won't sell I just plop into the one bag and leave it there... And from my experiance (When I later return to the same field) people generally seem to get the idea and I'll see 30+ items in that loot bag and the field is relatively clear.

What I really don't get though, is when I'm down in the Goblin caves I see loot bags everywhere, Everywhere! It's rediculous... I'm like "Wow, there is a treasure chest not five feet from that leather bag that's creating latancy..." And then I go around cleaning up someone elses mess, because they were far too lazy to take 30 seconds out of their dungeon run that they probably spent in a breif 'victory roleplay' anyways... =(

Well, to answer the question: Yes it does lag the server. However, there are more severe issues with NWN2 which lags the server even more, and even causes crashes. The server in the high end of servers, and there's one hell of a lot of bandwith for it...

I don't know if you noticed this, but sometimes, picking up loot does not destroy the bag. This is due to an obsidian error. I believe. We have an area cleaning script in place which will clear out the lootbags when the area is unpopulated.

        Cheers

Came upon a strange bug recently. I emptied the lootbag to clean it and the bag did not disappear. When I clicked on it again, it was full of a different drop of loot. I cleaned that out and checked it again out of curiosity--again, it was full of a different set of loot.

              Has anyone else seen this?

It might have been that three creatures were killed in the same spot, and their loot dropped on top of one anther. If it only happened three times, I think this is a good possiblity.

Ah. That might well be it. I thought to keep going, but to be honest, at the time I thought it was continuously generating a different drop each time. If I'd found something good, I would have felt like a dirty exploiter

Yeah, there are some people who leave nice stuff. Scrolls, necklaces, healing kits, etc.

Maybe we could implement both trash cans and some sort of cleanup script... I've seen both done before, and they work quite nicely.

Found quite a lot of money lying around, as well as powerfull items. I assume these were killed by the guards, since no one normal wouldn't go and pick them up -_-
