  • Shifters and other such Oddities.

I noticed some postings on shifting and questions and such in the suggestions for new prestige classes, I thought this might be a better place to discuss such matters.

Thief ask about being able to grapple while shifted. I think all buttons are currently unavailable (except combat modes these still work)

I for one would love to see the forms capable of charging grappling fighting defensive etc. Lets face it while shifted there is a severe limit to what can do. we cant use potions or heal unless we have natural spell and some healing mem'd

I was thinking that setting some of the new combat option feats to the mode buttons might be a better way to do it... but i have no knowledge of the code side of things. Just my thoughts.

Also would love to see the bracers of the wildling... least I think that is what they were called. anyway was like a master work potion belt that shifted to you new form. It allows you to use potions while shifted.

Most of my forms have a solid draw back of having too many hp. If I shift out of Hill Giant, for example, with less that 35 hp. I am dead! granted I can rest while in Hill Giant and come out alright. But some places do not allow you to rest and as we all know you can not transition while in form.
In PnP on shifting heals the shifter as if he/she had rested. *shrug* not sure how that would be implimented here...

Oh and as for the prereqs. I think that adding a grapple bonus feat would be sweet as apposed to unarmed strike. That said I think the moderations the DM/DEVs placed on Nature warrior and MOMF are justified. The are powerful classes. They are dificult to play with some of the limitations I sited above but IMHO well worth it.

Maybe we could finally get things like knockdown etc...

Does it count as a polymorph when you're shifted? If so, unless I have misunderstood what people who know of these things have said to me, it might be extremely difficult or maybe impossible to give access to all that stuff.
      I got one leg missin'
      How do I get around?

Well... when you are shapeshifted and have natural spell, you can still cast. When you have natural spell and are POLYMORPHED... you cannot cast. So there should be a difference.

it pops up, in the status icons left of prtrait, both polymorphed and wild shape (or some such)

all items become grayed out. you cannot open inventory. but you can still access modes.

            Yeah, thats how it goes!

Ive recently been considering remaking my druid (I'd like him to have a decent charisma score *yes, I gave him an 8!* and switch out a few feats) and making him my sole character since I spend most of my time playing him. If I were to invest the time in remaking him I'd like to know his playstyle isnt limited to bashing (although I would still choose natural spell everytime while in Wildshape.

            Its just an idea.

Adding custom modes is impossible, as that UI uses inaccessible code in the core. As most default UI's do, but you can't add additional dynamic content to an already dynamically generated list of buttons.

So, it would require making a new modal UI.

                And!? Snap to it!

Kidding. Loads of work for little gain. Being shapeshifted gives quite enough powerful benefits without adding in combat abilities and modes into the mix. It's not supposed to turn you into a permanent alternate form with super uber Sundren crushing powers. It's a combat spell to use different tactics.
