  • Comp vs Sundren?

And Sundren wins! Stop kicking the crap outa my computer Sundren! Your masses and multitude of well detailed and established buildings cannot be held by a mere dual-core.

lol, Im just j/kin', I know these crashes aren't your fault (...are they?). I hope 1.05 fixes things, coz Im tired of praying whenever I exit a building in Sundren. I hope that just the simple act of walking outside doesnt consist of an extra 10 mins to load the game back up and pray that it just doesnt happen again.

Josef is now lost within the city, because between the crashes its taking him DAYS to get around. I found a harp on the shady guy in the market place...eee, there has to be a flute somewhere!

Oh, and I'm sure you know already, but NWN2 is a single core application. Your dual core isn't worth squat ^^

From what I understand, it's a known bug from Obsidian. It's related to the population of the server, which is why peak hours seem to increase the likelihood of a crash.

According to the official forums. 1.05 is NOT going to fix performance issues.
            1.06 however will.....

            Rob McInnis from Obsidian said:
"We have just recently received mods from people for testing. Some of the issues, I believe, are because of bandwidth issues (crashes from transitions due to time-outs, possibly). This makes it very hard to test and reproduce.

1.05 is not meant to be a performance fix for MP. I think we will see that more in 1.06 after we have had some time to work with the user-made mods more."
            Retired.

I already crash enough that I'll be avoiding Sundren City for the most part until things run more smoothly.

*sigh* Transitioning to ANY area is the main issue. It isn't any one or more particular areas.

If people start logging and reporting their crashing and start sending me that info, I can start to compile and see if there really is any pattern. Plus I can then start making some educated guesses on where areas can be optimised, and prioritise. However, there's no guarentee that that optimisation will make a bit of difference.

Sundren City is NOT the cause of these crashes on transition.

EDIT - Is there a "talking to a wall" smiley in the forums?

actually, ya know what. I think its the amount of ppl on the server... This morning when there was 8 er so ppl, I had NO problem going through Sundren...the city! However, it was when the server was nearly full was when I couldn't go anywhere without crashing...something to think about.

I don't go near the server if it's 30+, mainly because of my experience with NWN. The game and the pw's were apparently not built for that many players

This thread has run its course. We know there's a problem, we're doing what we can our end. Let's hope Obsidian actually makes the effort that's really needed.
