Nice, next time you will be telling me a man with two blades pointed on his back is ok to run without a roll, allright Ill just kill him anyway then.
Just look at the sittuation... he was CORNERED in the middle of the Mirakus, after an event witch involved lots of Red Blades and Legionaires, after the fort had been attacked and the man pumps up FULL hooded ! Come on...and you come to tell me theres more than str check to grab him ? He got the easy part if you ask me, cause if a DM were there he would be arrested at least. Also, he AGREEDED to come along and show his face inside the temple , but did not. Stop skipping things -_-

And stop discussing hips and rogues your running away from the post , if you want so make another =o
    Characters:

Hei Black Moon/Lee Senshun - Vigilantee/Retired Legion Alchemist
Mira Armstrong - Aspiring Red Blade

I agree that using area transitions to escape is not the best way to rp things out. This is especially true if you fairly bested them in combat, conversation, tactical positioning, etc. The winner is somewhat 'entitled' to his/her victory, though I'd still let the defeated individual be saved by luck or fate under extreme cases if they wished. For example if Os cornered and defeated someone he'd most definitely finish off, I would let the player choose whether or not my killing blow landed, or if they were saved by something else. If that particular individual had an interesting 'trump card' prepared for such a situation, more power to them. Just because my character wants to kill your character off does not necessarily mean I as a player do.

The only exception I would make to area transition escape is if the pursuers are not really pursuing or are practically on the other side of the map while I'm running like hell. Makes sense someone would be able to get away when the guys chasing them are not even a dot on the horizon. Even then, I say the pursuers should be allowed to used Survival/Search/etc checks to find the runner, and it's not such a bad idea for the runner to be limited as to where he/she can run, like to only nearby locations (Sundren City Gate ----> Exigo Trading Post).

Bottom line T-Cat, I'd have to say I agree with you about the example being not the best display of rp. Do not let a single experience taint your image of this individual though. We all make mistakes and deserve the chance to redeem ourselves.

P.S. HiPS, HiPS, HiPS, HiPS, HiPS, HiPS.... Okay, I'll be good.

on a simular note...sorry i said anything about HIPS.....it was only supposed to be a part of the example....not even a complaint, simply describing what happened. I didn't think that it would be the only thing that anyone saw in the example. So, just wanted to apologize for my accidental dethreading.

Because of course rogues just come quietly dont they?

            Using a transition to escape isnt particularly sportsmanly ~ personally I would do what comes naturally in a place full of very tall buildings and open bodies of water = jump, climb and swin your way to freedom! Its why we get eight SP a level >:}

well everything said here has merit.

              1) ask to slow things down!

this is an extremely good suggestion PL, i have seen people better at allowing dms time to set things in motion. when dms are absent and good RP is pressent i think we should all try to afford our other PC this courtesy.

              2) communicate!

if you want to DO something to another PC that game mechanics do not allow, ask them.

it makes everything easier in the end. if i am suspicious of "x" PC and have asked to slow things down. then i decide i want to catch him. /// i would like to attempt to grab you PC. would you like opposed dex check followed by opp str check?////

              3) grapple button!

especially for the above example an grapple check button would be ace! anyway a grapple based charater would be possible then as well. perhaps when target is selected and fails a grapple check they are rendered immobile as per the entangle effect.

              4) be willing to lose!

if you are the kind of person that says "no you didn't tag me!" when touched in a game of tag and you KNOW that you where... or might have been tagged.

you have NO place on this server!

losing in a situation like this can lead to some magnificent rp and i have been a part of it and seen it from the other end as well. my advice go with it even if you don't like being stuffed in a cell or caught, you might just find something you would not have otherwise.

i was in a situation back when i was quite new to the server. my character was mutilated and such. i certainly did NOT enjoy this. in fact i almost quit because of it. after a few chats with DMS and my fellow players. i decided to stick it out. while the situation was never resolved IG, it is still there and very much a part of my character.
it's part of why he is so mixed up and twisted. i would say he is better for the experience.

okay that was long winded and my point is probably muddle beyond recognition... oh well.
