  • Anyone ever seen a Ghoul claw?

There have been changes and such, but when it comes to crafting alot of things are new. I'm just wondering if folk have seen all of the crafting items that are required. Stuff like shambling mound moss and ghoul claws are things I have yet to find. I know this doesn't necessarily mean they aren't being dropped, I guess I'm just asking out of curiosity, as a few folk have wanted things crafted and I have no Idea where to get the materials. If you've seen them since all the updates, just drop a line. Please for my own sanity!

I have seen people pick up the Shambling Mound Moss.

    Never seen a Ghoul Claw.

Has anyone ever found the plans for a Leather Scabbard?

Kill a Shambling mound and get the moss... but no, never seen ghoul claws, apparently they don't like monks with a tiny bit more damage

I am with Vigo on that request for the ability to find odd components a little more easier... I have been on the search for Ghoul claws for awhile now... No such luck, but I can find lemons, quicksilver, & faerie dust, and powders galore which I don't think I have found any recipe that requires them.

I did find them before with greater frequency before the big craft changes, but not so much now... Another odd component I see in the odd recipie is a beetle shell, which I have never seen as a drop. (yet)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but would these odd components that we speak of, would they most likely be found in a faction store? Or are they only found with DM help?

If it's the latter, I'll tell the DM that I stomp on the nearest beetle.

Surely a night in the necropolis hacking limbs off ghouls left right and centre is going to give opportunity to obtain such an artifact.

If not, then surely this crafting system is 'bugged' in that you can't get ingredients by killing the very creature that the crafting component should be obtained from?

Has anyone tried killing ghouls for a ghoul claw yet?

Unlike the winter wolves that will on occasion drop a winter wolf pelt, the undead in the Necropolis don't really drop undead parts.

Although I did find holy water on their posession occasionally.

Drops from the Necropolis will be revised pretty soon (ghoul claws shouldn't be all that uncommon). Craft-required creature parts are all intended to be obtainable through drops. Some are uncommon or rare though, particularly the pieces needed for the better items. Once again they're intended to be subject to trade and their values can reach up to levels comparable to precious gemstones. The intention is that not everyone who wants that +3 strength belt with a gem socket can actually obtain it. You can eventually if your coin pouch is heavy enough and you jump to the opportunity to buy the components or wait for a crafter who will sell to the highest bidder, but due to the incurred costs you may not be able to enchant your weapon to +3 for some time.

That is good to know that there are still revisions ahead Kael. I had to ask though, and I hope it's not too off topic...if it is I'll take any redirection to a proper thread... but your mentioning of the +3 belt of str with the socket. Are the only socketable items +3 or better? I was beginning to wonder whether there will also be mundane items (like the double socketed ring) that will be socketable, such as armors, Swords... or recipies that would allow you to add a socket to an item that has none? I only ask as I noticed that many of the gem imbuements are rather simple in effect and are meant for armor and weapons, but I have heard hide nor hair of anyone having such an item.

Mithral weapons have a socket, and several sorts of armour do as well (alchemical gold and shadowsilk for example). More socketable items such as crowns, boots and bracers will likely be added, but general mundane equipment that can also be enchanted won't have sockets unless it also has some item properties that could be considered 'detrimental' in overall power. For weapons and armour it's generally used as a balancing mechanism that provides alternative options to improve your gear, not an overall improvement. Looking at the mithral weapons for instance, they have the weight reduction property that takes up a property slot, and the socket they have means that it's still a worthwhile option despite the creation costs.

This is all good to hear, I've been having a dickens of a time trying to find recipes and materials. I'm sure part of it is that I don't go out and adventure much anymore, the other is that I'm not looking in the proper areas as I'm looking where I, as a player am expecting to find them. Well I guess it's time to put up and Advert and see what's available for sale.
