  • A question about Sneak Attack's AB

Now, I know how sneak attack works for the most part and how it not only ignores most bonuses to AC but can do extra damage.

Here's my question though: Against foes that are immune to sneak attack (for whatever reason), you obviously do not get the extra sneak attack damage. However, do you still ignore all the usual things (armor bonuses, etc) when determining if you hit them or not?

Sneak attack doesn't ignore bonuses to AC. It may seem like that, but circumstances when sneak attack works often involve a loss of AC bonus.

    For instance:

~Flanking (+2 to hit for attacker)
~Flatfooted (eg coming out of stealth, loss of Dodge/Dex bonus)

Yup pretty much, Sneak attack is a setup. Most creatures that are immune are due to lack of body parts, or being undead.

You still get the bonus to hit due to lack of Dex, or caught unaware. Think of jumping out of the shadows and stabbing a zombie.

Now the attack that ignores alot of AC is touch attacks that wizards cast on some spells or warlocks blast. Which with just a iffy AB is pretty darn easy to hit.

Touch attack is different then a direct attack because your just trying to touch them not shove a blade through them. It ignores Sheild, Armor, and Natural.

Yup if caught unaware you get an easier attack but no sneak damage.
