Suggestions above over-complicate things and are too OOC.

How about removing the druid glade from the map? That would require people to go through Viridale to actually get there each time.

Seems a bit silly when your paragon of evil decides to go and smoke a blunt there and chill out though. I can see where Anks is coming from even if it IS better than the rainy campfire at Exigo!

I fail to see why the rainy Exigo camp is superior to a nice warm tavern with a roaring fire! It's way easier to get events going from taverns as well... The Exigo camp is sterile ground for DMs.

It really depends on the character, as said before by V..

In Yashia's case, the Sundren Comfort has the only tavern area she's comfortable with. Your average tavern is ground for finding things that are inappropriate, dirty and ugly. Potentially being surrounded by drunks, pirates, thugs, thieves and worse puts her at unease to say the least.

Ranger's rest has always been a favorite of Peligiri's and its right next to the glade anyway.

Ah yes, forgot about the ranger's rest there for a second. That's another decent, and also quiet place. Good to retreat to for finding a moment of peace.

I guess the main thing is that people go to whatever place has the most people according to the search tool. It might be beneficial to resort to some OOC'ness to start a gathering with like-minded individuals in a more fitting place for your own character. Coordinated through tells. I normally don't like this myself, but usually it's possible to come up with some excuse why it makes sense.

Over-complicate - perhaps. Though player-side at most it means one or two extra mouse clicks. Might actually reduce lag on logging in.

too OOC - no more than the process of logging in is anyway:
*pops into the middle of a whispered conversation out of nowhere*

The sort of thing I suggested is done similarly on many PWs I've played on and hasn't really caused any OOC complaints - and it would only be available after a server reset anyway.

I like that idea.... though I've always dreamed of having this map point either open to specific classes only (Ranger/Druid/Spirit Shaman/ posibly Barb), or requiring a survival roll to reach (if failed you get bumped back to where you started and can't try again for a set time) - or else, by using follow on a friend who is a member of the woods types.

I know.... over-complicated but I'd like that and it can't hurt to brainstorm, right?

Another possible change - similar to removing the Druid Grove map point - would be to change the Exigo Trade Post map point to go to the Crossroads instead - there is a campsite with a tent there and it is outside of the trade post. People wanting to visit the Exigo would have an extra transition, but the immediately reachable campfire would be on neutral ground.

My suggestion, which is rather simple, would be to just go where you're character would go. Think ICly. If you have a fighter, would he really want to go to the druids glade just because some of his friends are there? I don't know how the glade feels about outsiders, either.

This may seem a bit silly, and I'll probably get laughed at, but I think I should add.

If everyone tends to flock to an easy transition place with a shop type deal, why not make a tavern that is on the overmap? Once there, you could have two exits like the Entertainment District. One to the map, the other to....well, wherever.

Edit: And I realize that carebearing is not the desired outcome in a server, but if it has to happen, why not facilitate it in a manner more suitable to RP?

Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

long as druids and rangers can have a port there. i highly doubt any druid or ranger would want/need to go through the virdale border every time they wanted to get to the glade.

i have a suggestion for ppl standing out in the rain... DMs just inflict them with the flu!!!!

another suggestion for non-gods... tell the ppl you want to rp with to come out of the blasted rain, go to a pub/temple/shelter.

granted some characters would stand in the rain as if nothing was happening. but NOT many.

almost every pnp session i've ever been a part of starts with "who's you character and how do we get them all together." it's VERY meta-game but with out it there is NO rp.

... then there is always the guy who wants to play 'evil incarnate' and everyone else is playing saints and paladins of yondolla or some such. so frustrating.

i see this all the time surrounding dm events. players are so keen on dm eventing that they come along even though their charater would not. (often they are drawn there via player search)

in SOZ you can port directly to parts of town. w/o having to walk through it. again break immersion but lets be honest when someone is running errands through town they at best *nods* to the person they pass. (note: they dont nod to all the other placed creatures) so as far as a time saveing idea i like it.

regardless of what you do ppl are going to flock. there have been studies on it. we can't help it.

I agree with this but some people just get bored and want to RP so the flock to one place where people are. Everyone has done it and people will always do it.
