It would be nice to be able to roll Save vs. Spell similar to Fort save, It would become very useful once I finish the compilation of pnp RP spells.

I think he meant using Sundren dice mechanic, not changing the game's infrastructure. If you roll a Fort save, it doesn't take into account things such as Protection vs. Spells.Originally posted by Kaeldorn View PostWouldn't it be possible to just use the three existing saves? I know there are modifiers for spells, for fear, for mind spells, etc., but taking all of them into account might be a bit much..

C2k Is right, i wrote my post in a hurry and forgot to be more specific.
In any means you are right, i did quite a bit of research and I concluded we can subsitute Will, Reflex, or Fortitude in correspondence with the correct type of PnP spell. My technicalities were wrong, I thought there was simply just a "save vs. spell" in nwn2. (must of been 2.5edition?)

Yep, in AD&D you had a save vs. spells
Since 3rd ed it has been fort, ref, will with modifiers for different sources. And c2k: I know, that's what I meant too. Taking all possible modifiers into account for those dice checks depending on what spell it's used against would result in huge amounts of code needing to be written and handled by the game. It just wouldn't be worth it.

Just make the roll and point out "I also have +3 to will saves against mind-affecting spells and effects". That should work nearly as well.Maia Nanethiel ~ Moon Elf Female Ranger

As I go through some of the RP spells I notice some of the more interesting ones use D100 with varied effects, with lower probability for some things than D20 allows. ALthough i imagine first a review of my anthology would be in order before anything like that is scripted.
Heres an Example: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/ContactOtherPlane.htm

Yeah it would be rediculously hard to code in all the additional bonuses a character may have!
example: Xan the enchanter casts hold person on Bob the elf! First he has to take into consideration his saving throw based on base save, then add his elven resistance to enchantment spells then his spellcraft ranks, then any equipment or class features he has that may up his save Vs spell/enchantment/mind effecting (For example if he is of Fey heritage)Originally posted by roguethreeIf I had my way, clerics would have spell failure and a d6 hit die. And Favored Souls wouldn't exist.
