Sorry joker is cool.

But just feels tense on the forums. (then again RL has me ready to start swinging at folk).

Was just figuring to suggest a few ideas for Player ran events. Something to group folks to gether and unwind.

1. story telling contest.
2. drinking contest. (roll fort save looser pukes).
3. Sparing event.

Are just a few off the top of my head. Just need folks to figure out what they would enjoy, and post a time/date. Weekends usually work best for folk.

Maybe if folks unwind a little there will be less tension, or I can just beat everyone with a week old fish.

Any kind of contests don't actually need DMs, which is what makes them good, they are the bread and butter events of MMOs where DMs do not exist. Just have to make sure to get it sufficiently advertised on the forums and in-game and such to make sure you have a healthy attendance. I'm sure if a DM was asked ahead of time, they could put aside time during the event to control NPCs and place props and such.

I remember when we had a fight night event at Jimmy's in the cage, that was a very cool night with lots of attendees. There was also going to be a mage dueling night that was planned, I was really interested in that, but it got cancelled due to the DM having RL issues to take care of.

I personally would love to see some of these, particularly sparring nights (both the melee kind and the mage kind).

If you do a cage match, be careful how you plan it, the categories, and what you can use. I fought in one of the cage matches and the HIPs person won the category I was in, because one of the rules was no magic - so couldn't enhance my already maxed out spot and listen - so couldn't see him.

Therefore, make sure you have solid rules before the match so that everyone knows what to expect.

And please, this is not a post concerning HIPs, I was just using it for an example - I think the person played their character in the fight well and according to his RP.

Player run events are cool if they work, sad when only 1 person shows up.

Scavenger hunt would be a fun event too. You basically make up a riddle and if someone shows up with the items from the riddle get some kind of prize.

To bad familairs do not do combat anymore I always wanted a "Familar Fight Night".

Could also do a scheduled player hunt. Were at X time anyone gathered at Y will join to hunt at a certian area. I remeber doing that with alot of drunk dwarves, or the naked version were no one has gear has to pick up what they find as they go and use that.

Once a certian charactor gets high enough with gold I think the drinking contest will be something I will try to get folks to gather for. Might end up like that episode of family guy were everyone drank epicac(sp?). So I better choose a tavern that I might never want that charactor in again.

I did an easter egg hunt last easter and gave out a prize for people that found a chickens eggs first. A player can easily go place an item, make a riddle and the first person back wins a prize. There not difficult at all and can be set up in no time.

I know in the past I've used my familiar in combat, haven't for awhile but I don't know why it would have been removed. You can't just command it to auto-attack with it but if you possess it and order it to attack, it can work. And spell fights using only familiars would be awesome, too.


And people will show up if it's advertised well. Hell, Arlock's 'last stand' last night was completely on the spot, but he sent people tells and soon enough almost the entire server, including a DM, showed up. Give people more notification and you can sometimes crash/lagout the server with everyone showing up at the same time (that was the problem with the Fight Night I'd been too, so many people showed up that it crashed a few times).

With the server upgrades it has been having over time, the server has become alot more stable and can support a larger player base in one area at a time. But don't take that as having 20 people in area all the time, especially in a cramped area like the Dice Den or something

Yeah I forgot to mention the server doesn't have that new memory yet --it was the wrong type... still waiting on order for the new stuff.

Even worse I found if my familiar is possed you get zero xp. Might have changed since then but was kinda a bummer. Seeing when I did that I had a mage who was a walking statue and the familair did all the talking.

BUT while wizard/sorcer familiars can't fight the companions can so that could be cool

Well I just tested it, my familiar can certainly attack and I know I get exp with it out (as I've used it on low level casters against goblins since, while it only does 1 point of damage each hit, it usually has very good AB at level 3).

I haven't tested if they can attack other familiars but they can definitely attack anything else.
