Hey all,

I'm not on as much as I'd like to be (a real life problem I'm sure all of us face) and as such would like to have a reliable way of keeping track of the goings on in Sundren.

My suggestion is this, a "Town Crier" forum where short headlines about the recent and public news in Sundren can be found. Mostly, I would assume, this would pertain to DM events and would only be written in by DM's as we PC's have plenty of places to post our version of the story. As I roll through the forums I see references to all kinds of things that may be construed as public knowledge but there's no good place to find them all.

Take it a step further and put a "Town Crier" in the major cities, walking around, blurting out the headlines, then, maybe come to the forums and read more.

If it's not on the Town Crier forum, and you weren't there to witness it, then your character doesn't know about it. Easy as that

I understand that this makes more work for DM's but a quick headline is enough to allow a PC to ask around town and get more information from those who may have been involved. Not looking for the whole story with all the gory details.

Yes, I'd second this - if the workload of the DMs allows for it and they are willing to do it. It would be a great boon to those of us who cannot be online 5-7 days of the week (I admit - I will belong to said group very soon).

Would be pretty fun. Especially if we could make GBX do sort-of a database from which the criers got their stories. That way, one could add news in a manner which displayed them both in-game and on the forums

That's kind of what the "Tavern Talk" forum is about. Rumors, news, etc. The idea is people in the tavern are talking about whatever is happening around the realm.

A server I worked on for NWN1 had a similar feature. I agree it would be nifty to have this feature. I'll talk to Godbeast about the possibility of implementing this.

I already have plans to use the stageplay system to work on a sort of roaming town crier for each district in each town (I may even put together a news-organization based out of one of the cities that provides these criers) which would be a constantly updated headline with the major goings-on in the Sundered Valley.

This will not see the light of day from my end until I am done with all major conversation assignments, so don't expect this until the server goes 100% live.
