  • Loosing items on death

My charactor does not die often, mostly due to it sucks :P

Besides the xp hit and gold, I loose items EVERY time.

    first death helment and boots.

Last time I lost a star sapphire.

Granted these are items gained via hunting I started thinking, "If I get a crafted item and spend a small fortune on it will death ROB me of it?"

Or even worse if "If I do find a signus will it have a weight to it, so even if I can keep my charactor past the fateful levels will I be handicapped with weight due to my UBER strength of six?"

So maybe its a question then suggestion thread.

I know there are two groups who seek to rp crafters. If those wares they make are stripped with death will there be further items to insure you keep them? b

do signus have weight to them? if so how much and will I be able to aquire bags to decrease weight?

Store things in inn storage, we're not changing the death system as has been said before. Most users would reply to this by saying "you're lucky there isn't permadeath" so I wouldn't consider losing an item or two that bad.

If I did have a star sapphire, I would certainly keep that safe in the inn storage.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Players need to think of death as a serious consequence, not just a speedbump in their hunts. OOC, we know you will get a chance to respawn. IC, your character shouldn't know that ressurrection is a gimmie. If you go fighting the Cartel or ogres then die, you're lucky they don't strip your corpse naked and take everything of value

And remember if someone carries your corpse back to a temple, you don't lose items, only gold and exp. More incentive to travel in groups. And always, always keep your gems in your inn storage. Why? Pickpockets. I don't think anything more needs to be said on that subject.

Of course, if we did things my way, the only way you could revive is by being carried back, and I'd raise the cost to revive via NPC. Death should be feared, not just considered a minor setback. Yes, it would be harsh, and scare off newbies. But that's kind of the point.

My issue is not loosing the item, it was just in my inventory.

My question is if signus weigh something?

and if You work for weeks to aquire items and gold to purchase an item made by a PC, will death rob you of it? which seems the answer is Probably...

Group hunting is fun but when 2 others on the server, kinda fun to look around. My charactor died, I was adventuring that is fine. I was just wondering in the future how death would affect them, or items, or items that affect death.

As for scarying off newbies most would be scared off when they figure they can not grind to level 30 in two days. :P

i remember from my pnp group if you even had a near death experience, the dm would maim your character. one guy had a permant scar from when a wight bitch slapped his character.

Signi can't be dropped or traded, and so they aren't taken from your inventory. So you don't have to worry about losing your signus from death if you want to save it for later. As for expensive weapons and armor: That's why I always wait for someone to find my corpse. There aren't any real rules about metagaming PvE death either, so you're free to tell a friend where you died. The only exceptions are places like the second floor of spittlefist, where you shouldn't be alone anyway. Usually 800 gold + retrieval expenses is worth it.

And the DMs can still give your characters scars. Most of them are chaotic neutral with evil tendencies anyway, so it shouldn't be a surprise. They can give your character perma-death too, if they hate your guts or your character decides to be chaotic stupid and kills an innocent person in broad daylight with guards watching.

Seems to have a bug with this one. I'm not aware that Signust are not droppable since I did not come across this thread, so I tried dropping it in the chest and the item disappears.

So to anyone with a Signus, do not ever transfer it into a chest. It will disappear for good. Here is proof:

Not trying to be annoying or anything but this topic is really old.

Since then I have avoided death via luck or group hunting only dying recently due to logging into ogres after quiting there with a group late one night.

Also my main charactor finally rents a room so gems and such are an unlikely thing to loose only expensive gear.

Reviewing the death rules I think using a temple decreases loss of gold/xp and removes the item loss chance.

My only fear now is lack of signus and now being level 10.
