  • Deity Bonuses

I was thinking, that since Paladins go through very rigorous training, and they are distilled a hard sense of faith, that maybe the Deity your PC follows, could give you a bonus?

    I.e. Helm +1 spot
    Ilmater +1 healing
    etc ( I didn't think of a lot >_>)

That's just some food for thought, I like feed back so beat the crap out of me if this is stupid :P

interesting but i would prefer to stick to a prayer system. i've always like the system where your religious toons can build up "faith points" and then spend them on emergency situations.

Good idea, except that some, like Eilistraee, wouldn't be as straightforward to decide for. Maybe parry?

@Rugabug, I totally agree a prayer system would be good, I just want more deity connection to make you RP more your God/Goddesses beliefs and such,,

@Aratil Lafaer, that sounds good for Eilistraee, but keep in mind some Gods and Goddesses have little or NO Paladins... Melikii (SP? Sorry bad with that stuff) has rangers and such, but maybe then rangers and Druids and Clerics of said Gods would get the bonus?

I really want a DM or Dev to weigh in here and tell me if this is possible or if I'm a 'poop head'

Yes you can, but I was looking for bonuses that are more central to your deity,

For example a follower of Beeshaba and a follower of Tyr would not have the same dogma (naturally) so they wouldn't receive the same training, giving one strength on one field, and the other could be it's weakness....

I'm starting to confuse myself now o.O, well anyway I'll let you guys do whatever with this thread, like I said in the beginning, just food for thought.

Hmmm on a lot of servers Ive been on paladins are a prestige class and they have to be worked up from being a semi devout fighter!

Be thankfull such a specialised class is a base class and not a honourary title! Fair enough the modern day Mujah Hadin are 'Allah's self appointed holy warriors but they dont get lay on hands, cleric spells and immunity to all diseases and a persistant aura!
If anything I would like to see self governed multiclass restriction like there was on Icewind Dale 2.

i.e. a Paladin of Ilmater could become a priest of Ilmater at no loss of thier ability to continue paladin levels whereas a Paladin of Mystra could freely dual class to Sorceror or wizard with no repercusions! Monks were the same I believe... a broken one could become a painbearer of Ilmater but little else without being shut out of the monk class forever!

The praying system in place now was just a prototype I designed for something that can be expanded to be much more interesting. It'll happen eventually.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
