  • Rent-able Houses

I really liked the rentable rooms at the Inns but this addition would probably be great to Sundren.

*cough* Especially for Cirion and any woman he is with for a long period of time.

But anyway, my idea was that you could just put in a new section of Sundren city that has mostly houses, of varying quality (think from Shed to Villa quality), for rent. Or you could add in a whole new village nearby Sundren City mostly containing houses for rent.

I totally support this idea. But not the amount of server resources it will take to run those areas, and the Dev time to make it. I think their time is best spent elsewhere.

Honestly, I was on a server before that tried to do player housing, sure, it's a good thought on paper, but in application it's just one more area the game has to load on start up and would lead to cries of 'favoritism' as housing becomes scarce and Johnny the rich bastard player finds some way to get a house for all 20 of his characters :P

So yeah, it's a good and bad idea at the same time.

The TFR PW uses the rental house idea..Works for them ,but what exactly would it take to implement such a feature into Sundren? Is it worth it?Honestly, I think another Inn would be suitable change if anything. The three we have , rarely have vacant rooms.Food for thought , possibly?

The Ranger's Rest, for example, currently has no rooms - I'm sure the more foresty types would appreciate them being added

As for actual houses... might be cool to have, but on the other hand, personally I haven't missed them so far. What I would like is some form of persistent storage for those who would not ICly spend the night in ANY room most of the time. *cough* Druid *cough*

Why not rentable apartments, like a Commons complex. It wouldn't exactly be an inn, but you would get the multiple rooms that could accomodate multiple PCs and not take up the resources individual housing would.

The inn system will be as good as it gets for player housing.

If I was a programmer, this is the idea I would be most eager to make reality.

                Sadly, I am not...

As it stands, I agree with many of the above statements; WONDERFUL idea, but would take a LOT of work to impliment. Even if you were only expecting to cater to roughly around 1/3 of the active Sundren population, we are talking about the need for a LOT of homes. We have a lot of people out there, and are getting more each day it seems.

What is the current news on this, with the gain in resources of both programmers and server side performance since OP date?

Had my hopes of that changing since the post date for that was 09-04-2008.

All well, one can dream I suppose. All hopes aside, I am really pleased with what you guys have done here <3

IF the persistant chest work like I think were its attached to the charactor. That is why if you get kicked out of one inn due to not paying rent or returning your key. You can go else were and gear still there.

Now if that is how it works would be UBER cool if the temple offered storage contianers.

That way everyone would be able to store things verses just the few who get lucky enough to get an Inn room.
