  • Confirmation to Craft Option

Heya I was just wondering if it would be possible and if anyone would have interest in the idea to add a confirmation button to the crafting skills like scribe scroll, create wand, brew potion, and maybe even the armor editing feature. I ask because I was on mah lil wizzy and curious how much it took to scribe a cats grace scroll.. and boom I'm out 750g.. as a lvl 4. I know the costs of these craftings has lead to many hot topics, but this is simply a request for us to be able to confirm the cost and accept it prior to crafting it.

Anything like that I believe would be very benificial. And this has already been sugested in one of the other lengthy cost vs crafting posts then I'm sry.

PS: on a side note.. when customizing armor it says u need 10% of the items value.. but when I was editing a wizzard hat it was saying I didnt have enough coin when I had a sum much more than 10% of the appraised value.

    Thanks.

Who said that your appraise attempt was 100% accurate?

There's a formula to determine the cost of making a scroll, potion, or wand. I just never bothered to remember it; none of my characters can craft those items.

I think the idea is a good one..

Yea there is a calculation to determine cost of scroll scribing and it is as follows..

spell lvl x caster lvl x 25g = cost (which i looked up aftr it cost me 750g to make a cgrace scroll)

But! Some scrolls are automatically made at a specific level.. like cats grace for instance.. so it charged me 750g instead of 200 as the calculation would suggest.. ((which is still outrageous.. but we'll leave that for those other posts..))

And as far as me not having the appraise right for the customization i attempted.. I had 400g and it was a plain wizzy hat that appraised at like 80.. so yea.. dunno =/

Look to this thread for the reasoning behind the high gold cost. Summary: First, if you allow cheap scrolls, casters can spam scribe scroll and have unlimited casting per day. Thus, the cost has to at least be above store-bought price. Now, the usefulness of scribe scroll is twofold. It allows making scrolls that cannot be bought, albeit at high cost to the caster. Second, it allows two wizards to share spells and fill in the blanks in their spell books. Granted, this second point means nothing to anyone but wizards.

On armor customization, be glad you're even able to do it. It took me probably 1500 to customize my cleric's armor, but it was definitely worth it. If it cost 50% of the item value, I'd probably still do it. Not to mention it creates a new market.

But about your suggestion, yes, I think it's a very good idea. Now, whether or not it's actually possible, Saulus will have to pop in and tell us that. I would think that if it was possible, it would have been done already. But then, the devs can't think of everything.

It's certainly possible I suppose, but you wouldn't magically know how much it would cost, you could appraise the cost. It's just not that simple.

I ain't writing that script saulus. There's two or 3 entries for each spell in th iprp_spells, and the game only makes use of the last one, that would be a monster to determine, what with the list being around a 1000 lines.

Then we're looking at interrupting the spell hook code for crafting, and instead of directly passing the GetLastSpellCast() and GetLastSpellTarget() that it normally would, trying to figure out how to determine and pass the right spell with the right target if the person sat on the button for a few minutes and anyone else in the entire server cast a spell, which would change the value of those two functions.

I think it would be easier just to post up the contents of the 2da and let them do the math themselves.

Just write up a list of it. I believe Sundren's costs are the exact same as default NWN2 costs so you can always try it in some other module like a level up module and write them all down. Thats how I got my crafting cost lists which are somewhere in the trading forums.

                    Our costs are actually modified.

Here is a parsed excel file of what the crafting costs SHOULD be with our modifications.

Please keep in mind the following facts:
                      1. If there are multiple listings for a spell, you can be sure its the highest value one.
                      2. If its a spell with multiple uses (like Shadow spells) look for the root spell for the cost, not the branches
                      3. Not every spell in this file is in game. (Don't get excited)
                      4. This is the costs as I see it in the scripts. Its fully possible I'm wrong.
                      5. I'm not wasting my time deleting unused lines and duplicate spell lines and such, someone else can do that if they wish.
                      6. It's in excel 97-2003 format. ( I dumbed it down for all those who refuse to do the right thing and get the awesome office 2007 package!)
                      7. If you don't see a spell here, it means it cannot be crafted in game.
                      Good Luck and your welcome.
