  • A blanket suggestion to the staff

Being that our recommendations/suggestions many times outweigh our (often silent) praises, I just wanted so say that I noticed a couple of the more subtle additions lately. Of note...

-I liked how equipping certain items pull you out sneak (I think that this is still a work in progress, but I like the concept). Much kudos. Putting on new armor would be quite difficult I imagine while in stealth.

-Displaying to everyone around what you equip/unequip is nice (I also noticed that it now only gives the generic type --- e.g. small shield as opposed to Small Shield of Kick-Buttness). This announces if someone is stepping up the threats by wielding their weapon.

Anyway, the subtle touches are nice. Good job guys. This isn't on the kudos thread because I do have a suggestion...

I suggest you guys pat yourselves in the back and have a cookie. The small things are noticed (even if we don't say it) and they do count!

Is this actually showing up to other people now? I was under the impression it still was only viewable by yourself and those partied up with you.

This is pretty close to being done.
As it stands, if you change armor or equip a 2-handed weapon, you destealth, as those are usually massive things that require a lot of movement to equip/wield.
Anything Long Sword or smaller will no longer destealth you. (Or at least shouldn't)
This was done to slow down HIPS Archer's a bit. It doesn't stop them, but it forces to specialize in archery and not shoot, equip tower shield, HIPS as soon as possible, reequip Long Bow and fire again.
There are some exceptions, namely being: Short Bows and Light Crossbows will not pull you out of stealth.

Doh! Why ask me a question I didn't realize I didn't know? :P Honestly, I didn't realize that there was a distinction between being in a party and those that aren't. I just saw the announcements that equipment were being equipped by those around me and I figured you fixed it. I can't verify this cuz my mother-in-law is visting this weekend. (to any readers of the post) If anyone can verify, can you post?

Nice. I like the attention to detail.

I had noticed I was pulled out of stealth mode when I equiped my longbow. Now I know why. It is a good addition, since you would not realistically be able to get out a longbow and stay in stealth mode. Great work.

Not sure if this is intended or not, but removing armor, as opposed to swapping it out for a nobles tunic or what have you, does not take you out of stealth. I mean, there's really no benefit to doing so, unless you intend to sneak by someone you know has a high spot/listen, so you take off the armor momentarily while you do so and put it on later, or if you're a mage in armor and you take off any armor you are wearing to get the jump on someone with a fast spell.

I chose not to do the unequip, because a argument could be made that you could "unhook your armor" and wiggle out of it stealthily. The reverse could not be true though. No one "wiggles" into full plate and rehooks it up steathily

On a related note, I love that switching weapons begins a new combat round now. No more jumping from 2h to 1h to 2h to get free attacks. Is that something here, or part of the recent NWN2 update?

Did anyone notice the change to the Sending Spell? Using the GUI to send the message instead of the chat box? Any feed back on it?

I found it to be positive so far. It seems to help people not miss the message so easily.
