  • Dwarven Battlerager PrC

I was shuffling through Races of Faerûn book and I came up with the good ol' Dwarven Battlerager.
There're a few elven-based Prestige Classes out there and since some people have suggested some PrCs to be added in later, perhaps we could include Battleragers too?

Alone the class is nearly worthless since we don't have DnD's spiked armors with the grabble holds that would deal damage per every round and whatnot bullrush horn-helmet stuff, so I'd suggest perhaps slightly modified version, with some monkish/barbarian stuff, like unarmed damage (regular ab's), possibly some extra combat feats like knockdown and some extra damage reductions?

There's only 5 levels with battlerager so technically it should be relatively easy to include, and I also believe most possible material would be already available and waiting to be added in (thus doesn't need heavy scripting for custom stuff).

Would this kind of custom-tailored existing class be possible to be had in Sundren or do you copy the classes always from ordinary existing ones?

If you're interested, I have few ideas for the class myself that would make it more suitable in NWN2 environment (I was running it to be made custom class in a NWN1 server long ago).

    Cer'wyïl Durothil - Mix-breed noble elf
    Tredonael - The shapeshifter
Glagnur Frostfury - The arctic dwarf barbarian
Calewyn Gil'Fang - Wood elven archer
Jaegor Ursablad - The wychlaran knight from Rashemen

I can't say that there is enough dwarves on Sundren to justify creating a PrC specifically for them (it takes a lot of time to develop and test a PrC), especially when they already have dwarven defender.

so technically it should be relatively easy to include,
Please don't make assumptions like that. Players who do that make Sean a sad panda.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

On the other hand a custom PrC could encourage more players to pick dwarven character, but can I understand if you do not wish to work over a class that's for the minority.

What I meant with easy to include is that possibly there's no need for additional feats that would be tricky to script since the class is very basic of its structure and it can be made even more basic if alternative ways would be concidered in designing it.

omg Thibbledorf Pwent ftw! Or -- Glagnur the battlerager! I'd roll a dwarf just to be part of his brigade!

Looking at the custom feats Sundren has implemented, I think one could make something pretty similar to a Battlerager using some of the dwarven racial feats and taking the Frenzied Berserker PRC.

This is my outlook on PrC's.

If I make a PrC, I make it right and true to PNP, or I don't make it.

Not saying I couldn't make the Battlerager PrC, but if I did, it would be 95% PNP. (Somethings are beyond my ability and thats the 5%)

There are a good number of Custom PrC's on this server and few if any are used.
Making a slew of custom feats for a PrC that is rarely used (see MOMF), holds no interest for me any longer.

Perhaps if another person skilled in NWN2 modding were to step forward, they might take a crack at it. But for me, I'm going to pass.

Not trying to step on anyones toes here but perhaps the reason why not many people play the custom made PRCs like the "master of many forms" is that they are locked and require special approval to play.

I'm not saying you guys wouldn't give approval to someone with good RP skills because I'm sure you would, I'm relatively new here but you all seem like fair, honest, and frankly great people (butt kissing aside :P). I'm just suggesting that simply may be reluctant to bother creating a character with the aspiration of using a custom PRC when it is easier to just pick a standard non-locked class and play that.

I for one am very interested in the MOMF ... in fact I have a druid PC as a secondary character who I am building with the eventual goal of being a Druid/MOMF/Nature's Warrior ... with the last one being a PRC currently not played by anyone (according to the statistics). The flavour text of the Nature's Warrior class fit SOOO well into my character's concept I'd be a fool not to try for it.

Anywho back on topic ... I understand the need to hold off some classes and races from everyday selection, trust me I do (I created my own PW for NWN1). The only thing that might be beneficial is a rewording of the Wiki text to say that the PRCs ARE playable and WILL be granted to decent RPers they need only apply. The current wording just makes it seem like only the RPer of the month can play those classes ... I'm under the assumption the RPer of the month restriction is for locked races no?

If I'm way off here just tell me to shut up and I'll try heh

Honestly, the feat required to play the locked PrC's, I've seen it given out to level 3 players. You jsut have to RP with a DM in game and make it obvious you want to take the PrC. If he likes you, your in. No applications, no begging, nothing.

Also There are 4 custom PrC's on this server that do not require special approval that have a total of 2 characters playing them total. No one has touched the Mage Killer or the Dark Hunter as of yet.

Let me post the PrC here so you will know what I mean.

BAB progression like fighter, d12 HD, strong save fortitude, weak saves reflex and will
Requirements - Dwarf, nonlawful, BAB +5, Intimidate 8 ranks, (knowledge religion 2 ranks), perform 2 ranks, Cleave, Power Attack, (Endurance) [perhaps Toughness?], ability to rage

Level 1: Rage 1/day bonus, Gruff (-4 to all charisma-based rolls, except +2 (+6) to intimidate) [replaced with Bully?], Rock Gut +2 saves vs poison [replaced with Snake Blood?]
Level 2: Close Quarter Fighting [grabble bonuses, could be replaced with normal/Improved Knockdown], Fearless [paladin fear-immunity feat?]
Level 3: Rage 2/day bonus, Improved Unarmed Strike
Level 4: Great Cleave, Reckless Offensive [works a bit like additional power attack, -4 to AC +2 to AB, just is not mode, could be replaced with improved power attack possibly]
                  Level 5: Natural armor +2, Rage 3/day

In addition to those, since Battleragers are very grabble-oriented folk, I would personally finish the touch by giving them bonus to unarmed damage, some sort of gauntlets which would do say piercing damage or possibly add armor that strikes back every time the monster hit with a minor backlash damage (for example OnHit: Cast spell Spike Growth etc).

In case you are not interested of the class, I understand, but with the exception for the grabble hassle which is not imported into NWN2, the class is mainly feats that can be replaced with already existing ones.

Heh you can make a dwarf right now and be part of the dwarven faction, Glagnur is working with uniting them together atm.

EDIT: For the Dark Hunter PrC I think the reason why it hasn't been picked is because it's Underdark-oriented PrC and there are hardly any caves except those low level ones in the server, I'd suspect Battlerager as concept would become frequently used PrC if it was implemented, one way or the other.
